Hey all, I'm new to the Port Orchard area, out from Colorado and I'm psyched to get out on some local water now that rivers are flowing! Anyone willing to let me and my brother (both solid class IV+ boaters dabbling in the harder stuff) join in on the fun? We can go alone in true exploratory style, and did it for the Sultan and the MM Snoqualmie recently but it's always good to have more along for the ride. Advice on rivers near me that are must-runs? Looking at Jefferson/Hamma Hamma, Lower Big Q, Elwha (is it good to go this high?), EF Quinault (probably too high) or anything south or east of us as far as a few hours drive away!

I'm usually happy to make long drives, spend nights camped in cars, leave work early, etc. to get the goods but Saturday I have bday plans. Thanks in advance, and see you on the river! Let's go boating!

I wouldn't plan on Jefferson until you are more stoked on read and run class V. It's a low volume creek, but undercuts, root-balls and holes come at you quick. Tread lightly, and bring a breakdown paddle. At the same time, it's too low right now...

Hamma Hamma is short and sweet; also probably low right now.

Robe will be at a great first time level on Sunday. The Green is also at a really fun level right now and hopefully through the weekend.

My 2 cents.
If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there.

Thanks dan! We decided on the gorge run on the skokomish today. Robe should happen as soon as we can though... Good advice all around.
