Looking at taking my boys on the Grande Ronde this summer.  The class II F. Minam (Wallowa River) to Troy.  Does anyone know if there is a permit system for this section?  I'm not finding info on permits.  Was hoping to do a trip around the 4th of July, but if there is not a permit system that might not work out so well...  Any other advice from those who have run it?

AW is your friend!  (I'm assuming you're a member - if not, you should consider). 

On the AW website go to the river pages for the Grande Ronde.  There you'll find that the BLM manages the stretches Minam down.  A quick Google of "BLM Grande Ronde" will reveal all.  . 

Permits are required for Minam down, are self issue, and are available at most river access sites (which are listed on a downloadable PDF).
