If I go, it will be Saturday morning and come back on Sunday...but I just got involved in a Boeing project with work and the RFQ needs to be in by next week. It is very complicated (typical Boeing, very complexe and needs to be submitted in a short time) and I may not have time this weekend to get to the Truss and back...we will see closer to Friday...

slight chance it could get big this weekend so we are going with the farmlands for a back up and if it gets really big the middle is a blast at flood(meeting time will still be around 10 at BZ)

Good talking to you Hans... Looks like Shauna and I will be coming down. My tolerance for rafting shenanigans is pretty high right now since I haven't been involved in any for a while. See you all down there! I'm thinking maybe going to Mt. Hood on Sunday.

yo Ben-
the Truss is the best place for such shinanigans, I think. glad to hear you gonna rally.
I also suspect that if the access to the Truss run wasn't so difficult a lot more peeps would be rafting it.
I think it'll be fun- hopefully it won't blow up like you sugest Hans-
I think we should stay the course unless it really gets huge- if it's, say, 4ft or so we should stick with the plan...

If anybody is rolling past Tacoma and wants to give a UPS kid or two a ride, that would be pretty great.

B Real along with Banks Mag arrived last night so the showing of Wild Water is on for sure, just not the final location.
If anyone has room for extra fire wood bring it!

Last update i hope
Tom, Kira and Rick r gonna let us use there house for the after party film fest thats two block from everybodys and a a good place to camp or floor crash if the weather is crap plus no one has to drive.
from Rt 14 take 141/Jewett Blvd into White Salmon, north on Estes Ave, west on NE Lincoln, 3rd house on the right. parking may be limited so a couple of options are stealing silver bank, theft way or its just 2 blocks up from the main drag
Please call 509-480-0481 if you got ?'s

If anyone is going to be rafting it and doesn't want to run BB and BZ I'd love to get down for some rafting action. Never been on the Truss before but have extensive rafting experience (5 years of guiding and private boating). What's the current level BTW?

Anyone want to run the Husum falls section Friday?
Also I'm driving down from Puyallup/Tacoma on Friday and can take some people. I'm heading back Sunday morning.

farmlands would be the back up but im 90% sure the levels will be perfect. most of are new snow is gone and the levels havent changed much at all. 3 feet is my prediction.
Jed i want you in my boat cuzz we got our title to represent.Washington creekin champs. looking forward to the icicle race at the ball again this year.

This question has probably already been answered but will BB and/or BZ be part of the race and will it be mass start or timed. Where are the start and finish? Also Ben you were not referring to our dear trip down earnies when you said that you had not experienced any rafting shenanigans for a while were you? Last if this helps I have found that the best/most fun level for rafting the truss to be between 3.5 and 4ft so I think more water wont be such a bad thing.

I'm under the impression that it's not so much a race but a gathering of many rafts, cats and kayaks on the truss. More an excuse to party than race. But maybe I missed something.

Sorry guess I sh*t the bed on that one. I somehow thought it was a race but an excuse to party sounds much better.

I suppose that the Ernie's trip qualified according to the formula:
rafting + class V = shenanigans
But I think the true rafting shenanigans occur when four or more rafts go down the Truss on a cold winter day and call it a "party". Fish should be able to define it better since it's his word, actually.

when you guys are talking about "runnable" levels, you should probably clarify the craft, b/c 3.5-4' maybe perfect for Mr. McCain but not necessarily others, particularly kayakers.....there seems to be a lot of interest in this party, and any first-timers should have an accurate picture of what they are getting into...jp's been running it at that level; he might have some beta for kayakers....
FB says 3.4 and rising as of Monday. Anyone have up-to-date gage beta?

Sorry yes meant that level for rafts. I have no clue about kayaks as probably could not make it across a lake in a kayak without swimming. Probably should not have posted that but I have just thought that in a raft those levels were when I had the most fun.

it's currently around 3.25'-- I haven't been upstream the last few days but will be up that way tomorrow and could give you guys on PP an accurate update then.
so if you are sensitive about levels, that should help anyone on the fence figure out what they wanna do.
Rafting- yes, 3' and up is preferred, the more water the better till ya get to 4' then it depends on who you are and your mood maybe.
Kayaking- 3'- 3.5' should be good to go for most advanced paddlers with solid rolls. If you've never run it and aren't sure about it- there is plenty of beta out there ask someone you know. 3.5'- 4' is getting bigger and more powerful, its true, but the lines clean up and are comparatively straight forward and a joy to boat if you ain't afraid of a little push.
There- that better chip?
c-ya there
