Cool - I just joined this site and am very new kayaker. The Skykomish runs right through the town I live - Sultan. I just bought a Pyranha S8 play boat, and have done my first 10 or so rolls. Just got a drysuit and am finally outfitted to start paddling in the river. Have been hitting a few pool sessions mostly since I got the boat a few weeks ago. A lady I am borrowing a paddle from told me about the site so just checking it out.

Hopefully I will see you on the river soon! :)

How old is your son? I have an 11 year old who's a solid class 3 boater and I'm always looking for other youth for him to boat with.

Awesome!
I do not have cel phone at the moment but my email is matthaverlymobile@gmail.com. Had a SUPER GOOD pool session last night - I am stoked. Practiced rolls all night and never did have to wet exit, and kept the paddle closer to the surface. Almost getting over the hump with rolls.

Let me know if you want to take him out! I'm sure my son wouldn't mind running some easier stuff if he gets to boat with another kiddo!

It has been awesome paddling with Jimmy Nipper! I just started whitewater paddling and he helped me learn some strokes and get down my first class II+ with no swims.   Very patient and friendly guy and great family of paddlers.

Hey Everybody!

New to PP and the community!
I go to school in Utah but am from WA and will be moving back to Seattle in 10 days and need some friends to paddle with. I've paddled class IV but would prefer to stick with class III for the winter.

Does anyone boat year round here? If so, how would you guys recommend getting in touch with them or just the community in general?

Thanks!
Conrad

Welcome back to the neighborhood! Just throw a class 3 boating post up when your local and there's plenty of people that paddle year round. 😀🚣🍻

There are also some cool Facebook forums if you are online....check out Seattle White Water Kayaking, Peninsula Dirtbag Kayaker Wannabees, and PDX Kayaker if you have friends or want to make friends in Portland :)

Hi all.

I just moved back to Seattle and am looking to get in a good winter season of boating and see some new rivers. I'm comfortable on class 3-4 and will get on harder runs if I've been in my boat a lot recently.  Unfortunately I'm only able to kayak weekends. Shoot me a PM if you are headed out and don't mind having one more person come along, I'm happy to paddle anything.

Is this list still valid? Just moved to Olympia from the East Coast and hoping to learn more about the rivers and to get out and paddle. My wife and I would love to be able to contact boaters to either get out on the rivers or chat about them

Hi PP,

I'm a new paddler, have all the gear including a drysuit. Working on my roll right now. Looking to get out on the river with more experienced boaters. Have run the Klickitat once and done a couple pool/lake sessions.

I live in Anacortes and can definitely travel south to get out on the water. Also have two friends who I am learning with who are at the same skill level if someone doesn't mind helping out a small group.

Thanks!

I live all the way down in Kirkland. Happy to help out and go down some easy runs if you are willing to travel down to the area. Typically Powerhouse on the Snoqualmie is a good place to start for new paddlers. There is also a thu night pool session in Marysville to help work on that roll. PM me if you want contact info.

Hi, Ash here, I live in west seattle and am always down for class II+ - III and below runs, I only have about 20 river days in the boat, have managed to roll 4 times in a row, after 100s of failed attempts. My favorite runs are the skykomish from split rock to big eddy, and powerstation to plums boat launch on the sky, and skagit from newhalem to s-turns. Pm me for contact info I'm down to paddle with anyone that wants to get in the water.

Megan,

Not sure what time you are headed to the powerhouse tomorrow. Sara and I are planning on being there tomorrow afternoon. Hoping to pick up a play boat tomorrow and try it out. Let us know what time you are going to be there.
