Wow...it's strange how I can be at the same time surprised and not surprised. I guess that conflict of thoughts is how these things go. That's still really sad. His little ones....oh man...

That is a well written article that captures what I knew about him. I was living in Driggs skiing Targhee when he did that big jump. He made a stir around there.

Strange that such an accomplished skier, skiing early season fresh snow wasn't wearing a beeper though.

Not sure where you got that he wasnt wearing a beacon. Dude is a pro-skier and skied harder than anyone out there. He was only partially buried in the first place and died due to injuries sustained. That means you could see him when the slide stopped = you wouldn't turn your beacon on to find him because you can see him. Critiques aren't necessary, just condolences. He knew what he was doing.

Early reports said they weren't carrying rescue gear. From the link Randy posted it appears that was the case.

That incident report is terrifying.
