As a surfer first, kayaker second (though I enjoy each in opposite frequency to my attraction), this video is freakishly resetting the bar. Taller waves have been ridden, but this break in Tahiti just gets heavier and heavier. Size? Well, a 60 foot non tube wave with an "easy" shoulder (Cortez Bank, outside Log Cabins) will never be the weight over air that Teahupoo has proven itself to be. Pipeline will always be acessable, and superior for spectators, but nowhere else does one get more water overhead while in the tube, and nowhere else can the spit be so solid.

I am not a class V+ boater, nor am I capable of riding waves like the ones in that video. But I do know both require massive skills, a steady mind, and trust in your fellow watermen(women).

This was a heavy day, and I thought some of you might respect/enjoy this clip.
