Forecast is looking pretty good for an Illinois run either of the next two weekends.  3/11 looks better to me, as 3/3 looks iffy due to a second storm following quickly which could adversely impact flows.

Would anyone be interested in going?  Would be glad to take my cat boat.  I can't fully support a crew, but I can definitely haul to big stuff, cooler, groover, kitchen gear etc. if folks can handle their personal gear in their own boats.

I'd propose a blitz 3 day trip.  Leave after work and get to salem area or so, then launch the following day.  2 nights on the river then home.

Oh man I'd love to do that. Can't that weekend though - I'm in Chicago. The Illinois is on the hit list for sure, as is SF Salmon.

Any one interested in the Illinois should consider this Gem a RDM (Rapid Deployment Mission). It's not going to lift it's skirt and let you plan weeks ahead of time. Been on it once myself, and I think we had a total of 5 hours notice before pulling the trigger. Worthy option to be sure but does require some willingness to make last minute action and certainly more so as you are departing from further and further away!

awesome Chris!  some interest in a carpool, which always helps defray costs on such a long drive.

I gots lots of redundant gear too, if that becomes the final obstacle, lemme know and I'm sure we can sort it out.

If I had to guess $100-$200 depending on how the carpool unfolds.

If it's 2 people in some 14 MPG rig, that ain't gonna work for me either.  consumables will probably be bring yer own, so easy to keep that inexpensize re food/booze/etc.

it's 18 hours of driving though, gonna be some gas cash required.  I'd love to get a 4 person rig loaded up and make it fun n cheap.

you've done it, so you know it's worth it!  especially if the weather is right.
