It looks like we might head to La Push for the weekend.

If anyone wants to run Sitkum Creek on Saturday, let me know.

I recall in Korb he calls it the "highest quality class IV on the OP". Hard to say what flows are going to be like but AW says you can run the gorge low.

I just researched for 5 minutes, it appears the access on FS 29 is open?

Four of us ran Upper and Middle Sitkum last Thanksgiving.

The middle is forgettable, with a couple of mediocre III+/IV- drops before a very long II+ paddle out.

The Korb description I read pretty much said the upper was a class VI expedition for people who are tired of living. I don't know how he got it so wrong.

The upper is high quality. We ran it with no portages (but a lot has happened since then, so don't take that as a wood report) and only 2 of the drops pushed into class V territory, low class V at that. It's like if the Ohane and Cooper had a baby together.

Actually, Kennet, for just throwing out a quick comparison, that one's pretty good. It is a lot like the ledgey drops of the Cooper, but a little more intricate in its "difficulty" like the Ohane.

Ben- you should check into doing the "Upper Upper". It may not have enough water, but the section above Korb's "Upper" is worth doing. I seem to recall it being a hair easier the the "Upper". I'll go dig up my river log from that year (it's been a few). Call or,email if you want more beta.
