what is the best way to ship kayaks ( cheap) or if you know someone in coming up Ill cheap in for gas.

Forward Air and Grey Hound are the cheapest.

Usually Forward Air is cheaper for across country shipping, while grey hound is cheaper for shorter terminal to terminal moves. Check it out, either way your going to want to wrap that puppy up well.

I would also post up on boof.com there are often folks heading up north from CA that use that site. You might have luck finding a boater there.

I've used Forward Air shipping a kayak from SFO and it worked great, delivered to their warehouse in Renton area. 70 odd bucks I recall. I don't know if they have a facility at Sacramento Int'l. But it was pretty easy to use, check their website. Grey Hound has a size limit that wouldn't work for me.
