Topic: Filming Icicle Runs Posted: 07 Jun 2012 at 11:07pm |
Is anyone else going to be filming some of the Icicle race? I'm going to have my Canon 7d and shoot some footage. If anyone else is going to film maybe we could collaborate. What we could do is spread out along the river and shoot footage. When all is said and done, and we return back to Seattle, we could dump the material onto a hard drive and a team of us can gather to do a weekend of editing. I've got Final Cut at home. And I've got Pro Tools. I don't know how to use it that well but we could figure it out. I'm just starting to get into this stuff. Well, not exactly, as I've done live sound engineering for a number of years now. A bunch of my friends are film guys that can help us put something together.
I've been seeing some KILLER whitewater videos lately and I know that boaters would love to get some of their runs captured and put together nicely.
Plus, there is most definitely going to be some carnage. Now don't get me wrong, I don't like my whitewater con carne, but it's just the name of the game. We gots to get that on film. Hit me up!

It would be awesome to get some footage of the race. If you guys can boat the run you can get the best views. The shore is mostly landowners and crappy views. I'll give my go pro to anyone that wants to mount it up. We should rally out early to set up before the race.

Okay. I'm heading out today and won't be able to check this thread very much but I will to see if someone wants to meet up before the race so we can talk about shooting. If nothing else, shoot what you can and we can talk about editing after everyone returns home. I may ferry across Icicle so that I can be on the other side of the river and off of private property.
What do you guys think would be the best section of the race to shoot?

The crux ledge is a good spot, but so is the boogie from the dam down to the finish line.
