It looks like it's time to hit up the Cooper River.  If flows are coresponding to the Cle Elum, then its at a perfect level.

Ran this last year at 1500 and was thinking it would be better with more water in it.  So here it is at 1800.
Sunday???

From what I hear, it is big and fluffy at these levels, I have never run it higher than 1,200cfs. I like it low in there as I am a scaredy cat...

At 1400 you don't even notice that 'butt buster boof' rock. However. I found the run was much more enjoyable at 700 and did laps, even if the top of the first big slide was kind of bare. I think up to a grand would be good levels.
More water, please.

Ok...keep me posted when we should head out there.  It was a blast last year for 2-3 weekends.

It was 1,600 my first time and I loved it. The hole at the first slide gets sticky but the rest is nice.

I think 1400-1600 is the basic medium zone. 1800 can be powerful. It goes fine but that S-Turn rapid and Norm's can kick some plastic ass.

700? Thats absurd. A matter of preference, but absurd none the less. Stick to the nice medium flows and paddle your boat on some water. 1200 is still fun.
Somebody has got to take the unpopular stances and voice the flipside of the coin. Its not that I want that job, but someone has to do it.

Kirk-

If you're still interested in doing this today, I'd be down for this afternoon.
I'm heading over that way from Seattle around noon.
A little extra water should be ok.
Give me a call.

Dang ... this puppy is just cranking late this year.

Hopefully it will start to drop ... I am looking to get in there in the 2k range to get my whistle wet and hopefully pound out a few of these bad boys! http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/washington/239/

Last year I caught a couple in the pools between norms and sturn. Hard to believe those suckers didn't die as they slid down the falls ...

I am looking at a trip out too the coop this weekend. I need to see a 1800 - 2200 figure before I start to solidify plans.

Anyone interested?

Good ol dayz. I remember the look on Doof's face when he was stuck under that log, and that 6 inches of water was rushing close to him :-)

Coop's been on my radar this year. Can't do it this weekend though, as I'm nursing an injury. Think about next weekend. Hopefully good flows hold. Bring bikes for dbl-shredding.

Word.

Boats are safer than bikes.  Where'd that injury come from?

JD, you funny.

Bikes cause more injuries than boats, but I'm not sure boats are "safer". This injury was from biking. My last notable injury was from going upside-down (or "flipping over") on Clearwater...excuse me for "flipping" on a kayak run. Took me out for two months.

I'm having a bit of a boating mid-life-crisis if you will. And I know you will.

You're right the safer is all relative.  Just seems that carnage is a given with bikes, whereas boating you can lull you're sense in to a false sense of security.  But if you're talking upside down on Clearwater, now that's scary.....especially somewhere like "Tonys Tumble".

Know that feeling of a boating mid-life-crisis very well.  Hell, I have a crisis everytime I get in the damn thing.
Be good to get out Schertz......boating not biking.....once you're healed up.  Cooper could work next weekend, if the Clear Fork isn't in.
