In the description, on one of the portages it is suggested that you jump the waterfall. It says, "Also the second portage around the 30 footer is best done by jumping into the pool and catching boats..."
Has anyone done this? What are the chances of landing on rocks? IS the pool deep?
Running Yellow Jacket this weekend and was hoping to get some info on this portage.

The portage of the big boy is only if you put in above the bennett put-in, if you use the Bennett put in you hike in below this drop and the slides below the falls.

The pool is plenty deep, it's just a big jump, maybe 40+ feet because you have to jump from a higher ledge than the lip of the drop. You can portage around on the left but it's pretty tough.

I know people have throw-and-go portaged it before.
The line will become apparent

Is Yellowjacket going to be in this weekend?

We did it in 2003 when the Cispus was at 4000 (it may be close to that this weekend). I'll never forget the trip! Godzilla was NUTS!

1/2 of a trip report, I never finished the writeup...

Edit, It'll be closer to 3500 but if the correlation is still the same I bet it'll be fairly high. Has something changed or are you guys goin for the high water? It was doable big for sure. Not trying to discourage floodlust, just curious cause I can't decide what to boat myself!

The Upper put in is a 30 foot walk from your car to the river, about as easy as it gets. It's a much longer day and the upper had all the wood hazards and a couple of portages that require some doing. The lower was totally clean when I ran it a few years ago.

The plan is to run it this weekend. As far as flows go, I'm relying on someone who has more experience on this run than I do.

Thanks for the info y'all!
