Yesterday while on an amazing start to a memorial float for Stano the day got started with the very first rapid in the park. I was blissfully heading down stream into the rapid on the right to run the ledge when I saw something in the water and then a rope came over my bow closed line me in the torso and I battled to get it off me while losing my paddle. I got free of the rope chased my paddle and signaled to Jeff to go middle as he was going right and he got caught in this rope that was in the wave train and hard to see. Jeff battled harder than I did and luckily delt well and surfed a hole wiith this rope caught on his PFD finally freeing himself.

Almquist, Jeff, JD and I spent a half hour maybe longer getting this rope cut out of the river. The rope was a big rescue static rope maybe 100' angled slightly down stream floating right under the surface waving in the current. The rope is prob from a rafter or fisherman. ? not sure ?

It was most likely an accident and someone lost it and didnt know it was there ? im hoping....

but if you ever leave a rope in the river i would hope you either try your hardest to cut it out or let the community know of where it is as a hazard.

Just a heads up out there and a little safety reminder !!
