Nice work - is there merit to just paddling the section that is accessible via the road from the stehekin side? It looks like the Tumwater Canyon and High Bridge sections would be reachable. Just curious because I've got a place to stay + vehicle available up there (I think).

Thanks Jon! Nate, maybe from Car Wash Falls to High Bridge, if you're up there. Below High Bridge is woody class II for the most part. Plus floating past the municipal airport doesn't really add to the wilderness feel.
It was a great trip this year, we started with 3000 on the gauge the first day and finished with 2000. Felt more IV-IV+ than V. That said, there are a number of wood portages early on and some big drops peppered in along the way (V,P) that will make a trip for class IV paddlers a little scary... maybe a lot scary. The entire river doesn't stop the whole way down. Be prepared for miles of boat scouting.
