I took a trip out to the Seattle area in February and a few people from this group joined (guided) me on a weekend trip to the Wenatchee. Although I ended up having a poor river day with a few swims, I had a great time and have wanted to go back. I have enough frequent flyer miles stored up to take a trip out there for free, so I'd like to plan another venture. I need to book shortly, though.

Is there a time in the fall when the rivers (particularly the Wenatchee) can be reliably expected to flow? I'm thinking ideally October. I will have to rent a boat and paddle but I'll bring the rest of my gear and get a rental car.

I'm looking to plan a camping trip near the Wenatchee and hit whatever "small 4" you can recommend. My favorite east coast rivers so far this year have been the Cheat, the Youghiogeny, the Ottawa, and the
Moose. So if anyone is familiar I'm looking for something in that neighborhood.

Looking for help choosing a weekend, and then some people to paddle and drink with. Probably a four day weekend.

Ant recommendations?

There won't be much in the Wentachee drainage that time of year, unless it is raining, and it's hit or miss in October, and even then, will likely be absorbed this year.    The Tieton further east will run, but not sure how long the release will be that year, usually into early October.    That's a fun run.

Am I better off coming in the spring instead? Maybe that's a better way to guaranty decent options?

Much better in spring.   You have rains until March for lower drainages like the Skykomish, and then in April the snow melt starts as a trickle and then really melts in May, which is one of the best months to boat.   Depends a lot on the snowpack.

Plus I'll have a little more experience by then. Okay, I'll put it off until the spring, maybe I'll just go to a beach in the fall instead. I'll probably repost this question a bit after Christmas. Thanks for the info!
