Anyone know if there is a Good guidebook for Canada and Vancouver Island. I've found a few decent sites but nothing that really is in depth for Vancouver island.

The line will become apparent

There are also some posts about VI on the range life from long ago. Probably around 2007 or so? Pretty sure you can search the old blog....

Remind me, and next time I'm up there I'll ask around. Also let me know if you plan on heading up that way, I'll take any excuse to visit Vancouver island.

Hey Jed. The BC White Water site, was built by Jan, with a fair amount of contribution from Shayne V, who now lives and boats on VI. I'd say it has the most information on VI rivers.

Some great boating over there......rainy season is mainly focused around Port Renfrow, with the Gordon being a consistent run, and then a multitude of other creeks in the area being options depending on levels. Gordon is a great run, with 2 or 3 sections. If it was local, you'd be stoked to boat it all the time.....good mix of bedrock and boulders, high quality, very scenic. Other creeks in that zone, that are run a fair amount include Harris, Hemmingsen, Cameron, and Lens.

For snowmelt, you've got Gold River area, with a couple runs on the Gold, as well as the Heber, Upana and Ucona/Pamela. Then farther north is the Kokish, which is now dam releases only. If you're looking for one of the best waterfalls ever, don't miss Lil Qualicum, and Englishman Falls is an old time classic.

Let me know if you need additional beta for planning a trip. Nothing better than Island Time!!
