I imagine that this has been a discussion thread before but I was unable to dig it up:

Anyone have any advice on flying with a kayak? Are there airlines that are more accommodating than others (or ones to avoid)? Any particular way of packaging the boat that is recommended?

Thanks!
Tim

I fly frequently with a boat, and yes look at those threads.   Alaska is very accommodating, Delta is OK (they charge), and United is not very helpful (they will either charge or not allow).    Put it in a bag like http://www.coloradokayak.com/Salamander-Playpen-Yak-Wrap and call it a surfboard, which it kind of is.    Makes it easier.
i like it when it rains

If you use your skirt to seal the cockpit and it is a BomberGear under no circumstances should you mention the brand.
