Topic: Wenatchee River Fest!! Posted: 02 Jun 2016 at 10:32am |
Who is ready for an epic weekend of paddling, partying, throwing rope, and racing rivers?!
Next weekend, June 11 & 12, is the Wenatchee River Fest!
Based out of Riverside Park in Cashmere, we have a whole line up of river events throughout the weekend. Camping is reserved for us at the Cashmere Fairgrounds at so we can get rad in style and still be able to make the events on Sunday.
Here is an itinerary for what is in store:
Saturday, June 11:
9:30 am: Registration opens for down river races @ Riverside Park
10:30 am: Kayak Race start
10:45 am: SUP Race start
11:00 am: Raft Race start
12:30 pm: Race awards in Cashmere
1:30 pm: SUP Surf comp @ Rodeo or Turkey Shoot
3:00 pm: Raft recovery contest (Team of 2 or 4 flips raft, recovers and gets crew back on board, timed event)
5:00 pm: Throw bag contest
8:00 pm: Party camping at the fair grounds
Sunday, June 12:
9:30 am: Wild Water's Advanced Kayak Clinic
12:00 pm: Kayak rodeo (Rodeo, Turkey Shoot, or Grannies depending on levels)
4:00 pm: Kayak pool session in Leavenworth $5/person
The races will be from Rodeo to the boat ramp in cashmere so pray for high river levels or be ready for a marathon. We will decide where to hold the kayak rodeo on Friday night so you can go dial in your blunts and window shades before the event. World Kayak is providing our insurance so you must be 18 or have a parent/guardian with you to participate.
If you have any questions, drop em like its hot! We'll see everyone next weekend!!

For the races, are there classes based on boat length?
Also, are the starts mass starts, or are there to be synchronized watches so we can stagger starts?
Thanks!

any consideration to start the raft race 15 min later? some people want to kayak race then raft race. would be nice to beable to do both.not enough time to shuttle up and meet rafters...

I believe categories will be based on who shows. We need at least 3 per category (I'm assuming long and short boat). Also, Yes, I believe we're going to move the raft race back 15 minutes or so to accommodate those that wanna kayak race and raft race.
