Now is time to act to help the Sky:

Vote on the August 2 primary for Snohomish County PUD Commissioner candidate Gordon Sibley.

He opposes the Sunset Falls Hydro project. Let's get him on the PUD's board of commissioners!

For more info, here's a bit more background from JP:

As SnoPud continues its plan to install a hydropower facility at Sunset Falls, one of three SnoPud commissioners is up for reelection. The Skykomish River is a more valuable resource in its free flowing state and we need your help.

August 2nd is the primary and we hope to unseat Toni Olsen. She has recently gotten on record as being against this hydro project but this is a classic politician flip flop right before election day. Her track record has supported the dam at Sunset Falls since it was initially proposed, and so we doubt she is sincere about challenging it now.

**If you live in South Snohomish County she is in your district.**

The Save The Sky River Coalition endorses Gordon "Gordy" Sibley. He seems to have a finger on the pulse of Snohomish County Ratepayers and their discontent with SnoPud's recent track record. Its possible that with one voice of reason among the commissioners we may be able to finally put a stop to this wrong headed idea of violating the Skykomish River's legally protected status as a free flowing river.

What you can do is simple:
1.Make a personal commitment to vote for Gordy Sibley in the August 2nd primary. The primary is the best opportunity to oust Terri Olsen and replace her with someone more willing to consider alternatives to building dams such as solar and wind power. If she makes it to the general election she will have the advantage of being the incumbent, and will probably get reelected.

2.Spread the word to a few members of your community. If each and every person who sincerely wants to protect Sunset Falls from hydro development can peruade more people to vote for Gordy Sibley in the August 2 Primary, we can have a snowball effect and a strong chance to succeed. You can forward this email to any eligible south snoho county voters you know.

3. If you feel inspired to write a Letter to the Editor for either the Everett Herold or the Monroe Monitor, please respond to me and I can give you a sample of the LTE I drafted.

It is hard to say what the ultimate outcomes will be. That's why we need to stay vigilante.

Thank you for your participation, and if this falls in the catagory of spam for you I'm sorry, but "The River Can't Speak For Itself!"

Time for a big BUMP on this thread!

Gordon Sibley made it though the primary and is on the ballot for the general election. Getting Gordon on the board of commissioners for the PUD is the most important move we can make right now to protect the Sky!

BALLOTS FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION FOR SNOHOMISH COUNTY WERE SENT OUT LAST WEEK!

Snohomish County voters, please vote for Gordon Sibley for PUD Commissioner.

Gordon not only opposes the Sunset Falls Hydro Project, but supports going a step further and working to make sure a dam/hydro project NEVER comes to Sunset Falls.

Also: Please reach out to any of your friends/family in Snohomish County and encourage them to vote too!

Post on Facebook and Twitter, talk to people, get the word out to any and all voters!

For those who don't have much interest in the river issues, also let them know that Sibley is also very much interested in fixing the horrible mess with billing and rates that the PUD has got itself into.

Too late, I already voted!

...But I read that in the voters pamphlet and voted for him.

Cool to see an actual politician come out against damaging rivers. "Sustainable" is a term I hear floated mostly about small hydro.

Pleasant surprise, hope he wins.
H2O please
