Hey peeps,
I'm thinking about exploring the Cedar with my children tomorrow. How challenging is it? Is wood an issue? What's a good takeout for a three- to five-mile stretch?
Any beta would be really helpful.
Thank you!
Catch your eddies,
Christian

Better late than never.

Super shallow, not tons of difficult rapids but the shallow nature makes it a bit more technical for kids. Tons of wood everywhere. The lower river below 18 is where most of the wood collects. Still above 18 often has a few trees down. Not sure about this year though.

I've heard it's woody as s*%&! For the downriver portion of the Cedar river race*, they were requiring strong class III skills.

*However, I don't think they ever ran the DR part that day . . .

As far as i remember nothing more chalenging then what is at the beginning in the slolem thing- it's not very wide through most. I dont remember bad wood hazards except some at the takeout- it's reletive. How old are the kids- ect. I'd consider it. Do a quick scout run some time.
why not!
