I'm free on Saturday and wanted to paddle something close by.  Maybe a sky run and session on ben howard?

Don't think BHW runs at this low a level need about 2000?

There's video of James on it at 1300.  It's 1780 right now.

I'm about to leave.  Anyone else know?

Yea I think it might have changed a bit in the last flood we had. Let me know what you find out and we can make the adjustments on the rapid page.

It was nice.  Today was my first time out there and it was definitly in.  I had a hard time getting "eddy service"

I think with a little more water a sneek around on river left around the rock could work.  I got tired of fighting the current and the rock for a right side paddle stroke and would just hop out and put back in.  A little annoying.

But for each time I washed off the wave there was a strong eddy line to play on and deep enough flatwater to play around between wave sessions.

What do you guys usually do when you wash off the back of the wave?

I paddle up river on the right side (facing up river) and keep your speed up against the rock then blast up and over the eddie line onto the wave. You end up hitting the rock sometimes with your paddle, but the key is to hit the eddie line with some speed and look for the dead water in the line and ride it up as far as possible.

LOL donkeyballs

I'm thinking a sky run and then hitting ben howard wave.  I'll post a trip tomorrow.

If the snoqualmie was running I'd so be down to hit the slopes in the morning and paddle in the afternoon.  Not sure if there is an easy route from Snoqualmie Pass to the Sky or west of Stevens Pass.

Ryan -- I was planning to join the group doing a Big Eddy run, meeting tomorrow at 10 at Big Eddy (sounds like some may try to follow-up with a run on the upper section, which I'd be interested in joining, too).  Since I know you are close by in Fremont, let me know if you are interested and we could carpool.  (Anyone else in Fremont/Eastlake area of Seattle feel free to let me know if you are interested in a carpool as well.)

Brent, Erik and I are leaving fremont around 10 so we won't make the big eddy run.  we're going to the bhw and then boulder run at 3.

Just a heads up on geusstimating the BHW, the sultan is just upstream of it (and downstream of the goldbar gauge) so this flow needs to be factored in also. The wave is deffinitly changed from last year, but early in the season we were having the most trouble with finding it at the right level due to the high flow from the sultan.

I would say the lower limit for last year was 1600cfs actual (sultan+goldbar), and the upper limit was around 3300cfs (also sultan+goldbar). Having realy been checking it out this year, but more beta is always good.

james and i went by this morning, and with the sky running at 2150, it looked a little trashy.   i'm not sure what the sultan was reading, but the wave wasn't great.

The wave was flushed at 2400ish on saturday, but there was still some play.
We left for power lines about 20min after putting in at BH. I'm bringing a
surfboard next time it is at 1600 or so. any takers?
