Today Fish and I ran a couple laps on the Rapid River, and then I drove around checking out the other creeks in the area to see what else was running, scout for wood, etc. Here's what I found:
Goldbar gage was about 7000 today
Rapid River. We ran 2 laps on the lower 1.5 mile section. Good fun & nice medium level. There is some wood of concern but you can miss it all. Same stuff that was there months ago and you can check it all out from the road.
Foss River: Looked like a good flow today... was nice and juicy. I didn't see any wood, but most of this run is hidden from the road.
Lower Tye: The last series of rapids above the confluence with the Foss has some serious wood issues. I saw at least 4 separate wood hazards throughout the middle and upper part of these rapids. (I think this is mind-bender). Some of the wood is huge and doesn't look like it will go anywhere soon. Too bad, as this ruins the best rapids on this run. Flow looked real juicy...not that it matters. This isn't really worth doing with so much wood in there.
Miller: Flow looked good (medium). And the road is open.
Money Creek: Low. Looked like a good place to beat the shit out of your boat if you're so inclined. Didn't notice any wood.
I went up and had a look at the upper section of the EF Miller. There is some stuff up there... including a big 40 footer. Has anyone else scouted or run that section?
