It looks like a couple of us are going to try to run the Green River Gorge on Wednesday afternoon. I am new to the area and have only seen it once at 1150cfs. I was pretty bored with that little bit of water and look forward to almost 3000 cfs that is is currently. That said, would love some company...preferably if you have run it before at this level - but that isn't necessary. Just that you know what you are getting yourself into and have the skills to handle it.
Email or call me if you are coming so we have an idea of group size, experience and logistics. I live like 8 miles away but could facilitate car pooling for others if that helps.

Hi,
I am new to the area as well and have never seen the Green at all but I would like to. I would like to get in on the trip if it is still happening. Let me know where you are at with this trip and how the logistics are going to work out.

The Green will probably not hold till Saturday. Per the Howard Hansen graphs they are lowering the reservoir levels and releasing inflow. Consider yourself lucky if the dam keepers give you 1300 Saturday.

I don't think I am going to make it back. I guess the I-5 is closed somewhere between Portland and Seattle. I might drive around but probably wont leave till tomorrow morning. Bummer. I heard you had to drive all the way to Yakima to get to Seattle. Anyone know if this is true?

I don't think the suby can get through that. I might try the 12 to 7. Thanks. This sucks I only need to go to seattle to pick up my skis and boat to head to montana for a few days. Bad planning.

I was thinking that but the WDOT website says its for emergency vehicles, local traffic or people familiar with the area. I didn't know if it was open for anyone. They really seem to be encouraging people to head to yakima. Don't want to drive up there just to be turned back.

A great time was had by all...4 paddlers enjoyed the gorge today. It was somewhere between 3k - 2800. A much better level than the previous 1150 that I had seen. The one really interesting part of the trip happened at the Paradise take out. I am guessing that most usually use the take out a little lower but none of us were familiar. Had to work our ways out one at a time and rope the boats up.
Can anyone tell me if the take out just a little ways below Paradise is more obvious than that one? Any easier to get out at higher flows? Thanks to all for a great run and any info on the lower take out.

Ya, there is a takeout right before the pipe bridge that crosses the river. It's a bit of a walk though.

If my aging memory serves me right, the pipe bridge is a ways downstream. The lower TO for the paradise parking lot is on RR just downstream of the hot (warm) springs on RL. This is down about three or four drops (plus a riffle or two) below paradise. Look for a beach (at lower flows) with a trail stepping up around a big maple tree. The trail then follows the river upstream, across a small creek, and angles uphill back to the lot.
