Everybody wants to learn how to creek, right? Creekin's the bomb. Everybody knows it. Learn all of the basic skills you need to run creeks effectively and SAFELY. Learn how to BOOF , run slides, complex eddy hopping through more difficult rapids, how to set effective safety, what to look for when scouting. Learn how to work as an effective team on the river, whether you're scouting, or rescuing. Also, learn to identify sieves, underwater rocks/shallow landings, backed up holes, how to scout from the boat, hand signals, the basics of how to unpin boats and stabilize victims, the basics of creeking!

Students will need a solid roll , class IV paddling skills, a creek boat with all the appropriate gear, throw rope, and some hardware if you already have it. If you've done some creeks already, that's great. If not, a good bar for this class would be comfortably running Boulder Drop at 2000, House Rocks on the Middle Middle at 3000,Upper NF Sky when the gauge on the main is at 10,000+. These are examples of rapids you should be running comfortably to really learn something from this class . If you haven't run these rapids at these levels, but you feel you have the skills, or you just really want to attend, PM or call me and I will talk with everyone who is interested.

The class will be one full day and is limited to eight students with (2)two instructors. It is this weekend July 19th and 20th (this coming weekend). If there are big numbers who are interested then we can add one day the following weekend. If you want to take the class more than one day to really get the most out of it that is an option. The class will be on the Cooper River, east of Snoqualmie Pass and will be an all day event. The Cooper is about a one and a half hour drive from Seattle.

The cost of this class is $225. $100 for a second day if you want to go a second day. If can't get all the money together by the calss date, let me know and we can work something out. I want everyone to paddle. This is a good deal and a lot of people will benefit from the class and the proceeds. ALL proceeds raised from this class will be donated to Team River Runner. TRR is a non-profit which teaches disabled vets how to kayak. TRR is national, the Seattle chapter started up in Feb of this year. Learn more at teamriverrunner.org. Want to volunteer for TRR? We have sessions every week and weekends. This is a fund raiser designed for good times and skill improvement so that everyone can paddle and have a good time.

What should you bring? The east side is hot this time of year and dry. Bring plenty of water and snacks with you while you're on the river. Bring some sunblock, lunch, more food and water than you think you'll need . Gear? Bring you're creeker, a good paddle, breakdown paddle?, safety gear, a throw rope, helmet, skirt... Have a drysuit? Bring it. Call or PM with questions. I want everyone to get in on this. It's a good deal and a good cause. water wacko2008-07-14 10:13:04

First of all I didn't buy the Sushi, my business associate did. Second, I don't even own an animal............LOL, or an army guy....... I am totally broke right now and am living off my credit card. So if you guys want to have a fund raiser for me to buy a house and get me out of this crappy apartment then please do so.

Seriously though, I do appreciate you guys and your fund raiser  and I am sorry I cant contribute, but I just want to run the river.

The Middle may be a better option for me this Saturday since I don't know if I have the gas to go all the way to the Cooper.

Awesome, Tate. Can't wait to meet you. The class is moving from this weekend to next. It will be next Sat the 26th. and should be a lot of fun. So far there are three total who are signed up. If anyone is interested this is going to be a great class and you'll really learn a lot. Just please make sure you have the required skills before you sign up.
