Wild and Scenic Institute is a 501 c 3 non profit organization whose mission is to provide free outdoor recreation and environmental education programs to disadvantaged youth of the greater Seattle area. We develop physical and emotional confidence in these youth who due to their physical, cultural, or financial barriers would not otherwise have this opportunity. We take kids into the rivers and mountains of the cascades to help develop the skills and instill the passion that will create a generation of advocates for preservation. Our 2009 winter and spring programs include the Skagit River Salmon and Bald Eagle Floats on the Skagit, Upper Skagit Rafting Adventure, the Old Sauk Hike, Bike and Boat. These programs will be coordinated with Seattle Parks and Recreation and will benefit the homeless teens of Youthcare, disabled youth of south Seattle, ELL (English Language Learners) from the city of Tukwila and disadvantaged kids from around our area.
