"Chapter in Paddle Sport History from 1957 - 1963".  Volker Beer, the German narrator, was a pioneer in whitewater kayaking in Europe.

Volker Beer "Helmets? Helmets are for motor biking! HA HA HA HA HA HA"  1 pot, 1 pan = pretty bad azz.

If you're into this kind of stuff there's a cool book by Elliot DuBois called "An Innocent of the Middle Fork."  It's about the first solo descent of the Middle Fork Salmon in the 1940's.  He was in fold boat.    It's a short, but good read.

Most of the boats look like Easy Rider Dolphin class.

I think he is wrong when he says "Gone are the days when the people and the culture are a major part of the river adventure"
Just look at all the Meth heads out there that smash our windows and steal our stuff, and all the nice people that slow down their speeding vehicles while we try to cross busy highways with our Kayaks on our backs!
See, culture, nice people and adventure all in one!
