A few weeks back several folks from the community got together to discuss this years PP Ball, We started the planning that is going to make this years event go off like a Bomb!

Obviously we covered a ton of topics but the most important just like last year was the Big Air Ramp. To make sure that this years Ramp is bigger, wider and easier to use for all paddlers were going to have a special Ramp Planning meeting.

If you would like to come out and lend insight on the Ramp this is the time and place to do it. Were going to discuss the actual construction plans, reuse of old materials, and of course the placement and utilization of natural features on the property.

All we need to determine now is when and where we should set the Ramp Planning Meeting At? Thoughts? Anyone plan on Coming out to help?

To get the stoke up heres a shot from last years Big Air Ramp!

Anyone?  The ramp isn't going to build itself...

A bigger, better ramp is going to take some serious volunteerism to happen.

Dude, I've never been on a ramp before, and I think I'm much better at deconstructing than constructing, but I'll help out if you want me to.

Liz ... we want all the help we can get.

I will put a time up once Jeff and Leif correspond and let me know they are in.

Should we go to a bar perhaps?

You know James, I would like to help, but I am politically challenged right now. I can participate behind the scenes maybe?

Is this still happening tomorrow?  If it is, I second James' motion to have a Powerhouse run first!  Must paddle!

We still have 7 months before the event. It will happen, just give it a little time. I think January will be a better month for involvment. After the holidays.

working on a new house near monroe myself....
I would love to help build a newer, bigger, better, faster, more beautiful big air ramp.  But that means I get to test first, right?

What happens to the ramp each year? Is it completely torn down, or is it modular so it can be reconstructed without too much effort? I've never slid down one or built one, but it looks fun.

If it isn't already designed to be broken down for transport and setup at a new location, I'm in for helping with design and construction for next year's ball.

The ramp last year was too small to be effective.  Were we to build one this year, we would need to build it larger or borrow one from the clakamas festival.

In prior planning meetings, we determined that we didn't have enough interest from people in volunteering to make a ramp happen.  Furthermore, we made a decision this year to not seek substantial funding from industry, and therefore don't have sponsors to pay for ramp materials.

You are welcome to build a ramp.  I will even help.  If you can source materials and come up with a design, I am more than happy to bring tools and do as I am told.

There is always interest in borrowing Lukes ramp in OR.  But a couple PP folks should head to the Clack Fest to see how its put together if they want to use it.  I will be there, but won't be around for setup/ dismantaling.  Lastly, there is no trailer to haul the OR Ramp, and nothing to raise it ie. Scaffolding.  They always use it at sites that are ancored by shore.

There is actually a hill side at the Wenatchee site which would work.

The problem is that no one wants to drive this project to completion, and neither James nor I have the bandwidth to deal with it at the moment.

Quoting myself from months ago: "A bigger, better ramp is going to take some serious volunteerism to happen."

Unfortunately, volunteers have been few and far between this year.
