BTW, that Big Eddy run is not really a class II run.
My favorite type spot will be at a confluence or tail end of an island. Two currents of different speeds coming together and under the best of conditions there will be shallow water, leading quickly into deep water(basically, a subsurface pourover/waterfall).
This, like many good squirt spots, can have a really low key appearance. Often class I+ or II, accompanied by tiny little surfing waves.
 yeah it's cold in these here parts. We'll see how long I can hold up. Summer is gonna be good though. And I agree- the big Eddy stretch ain't simply a class II stretch, although that does comprise the majority of the rapids found there. People all sandbag like mad these days. I guess all these class III boaters are "closet core boaters". Splashdaddy- I 'm a novice Squirt boater, but I'm pretty sure you'll dig the "Cle Elum Swimmin Hole"!!! And in the summer, it's HOT over there !!

I must at this time excitedly report that my cockpit outfitting is complete, and, I believe, superb. Some minor optional outfitting remains in the front of the boat, but the next focus will be the TLC phase to address some glass issues and minor restoration work.
But in the meantime, I'll have to take it again soon. Depending on flows, I may take it out to the Sky on Thanksgiving...

Paddled the Lower Gorge of the Green today and I must say, there was some seriously awesome looking squirt spots. Lots of deep, swirly water with clean washouts.
I don't think I'd want to squirt the whole thing, but if we had a caddy to carry our boats for us, it could be interesting.

Yeah, well, I guess we need to hire ThrowYaMittsUp- "charter" him and his raft, if you will.
I dunno- I think I'd paddle a squirtboat down the whole thing- I'd prolly want at least 2000k, preferably 2500k or more.

I'm not sure how this water shed works, but I fear catching it during warm weather, with warm water, may be a bit of a trick.
I'll help carry the raft.
Where I'm from, the "supplies" are often the cause of many of the uncertainties. :-)
I think we're going to try to run it again tomorrow(Wednesday). Any takers?

I've only ran it once, at somewhere between 1700 & 1300, but I'm guessing 900 would still show some promise.
Is the water ever warm down there? It appears to be dam release. Do they release from the top or bottom of the dam?

 Coping With Uncertainty (or, CWU as Safety Survival Experts refer to it) is key to the art of survival. Nevermind how many rain pops it took to get there.
Ok-everyone knows I'm full of it and have no ides what I'm talking about.
900 on the upper gorge would suck to raft I would think, and the many rock gardens (susceptible to change the way they are) would be hard on a squirt boat.
I think 1800 would be a minimum flow to shoot for. Since it's not a very reliable drainage due to that Howard Hanson thing-a-ma-jig, I couldn't say at this point when you could count on it running those flows. May could be a good month to watch it. Till then -just got eye the guages I spose...
