Running the North Fork at 8k is one of the more impressive things I've seen done in a kayak.  Surviving a swim would require a lot of stamina and luck.  Check out these pics.    http://alloutdoor.smugmug.com/Sports/whitewater-kayak/12576499_ZyrmN#903084332_PxPSB

Good on you for sharing Dave... I previewed the slideshow yesterday after seeing the post on Mntbuzz. Heavy metal for sure!

Talked with Ben a little last nite at HC V premier and he kinda downplayed the 8k run on NF as being big and fast and "deeper", making it a better place for the flip, but not as hard as the Richochet stretch at high water.  He just got off that on Tuesday with Darren Albright at some silly high flow.

Good premier last night held at the Index River House.

No doubt, Scott.

Maelstrom is the word that comes to mind looking at those pics. Big water is still where the frontiers of whitewater are waiting to be explored- they are gradually chipped away at by the sport's very best and very fit.

Amazing. I have no desire to put on the N. Frk at such flows. I read that article "A Reminder" by Doug Ammons. I think Franz posted it up on line here a week or so ago.
