Hi guys,
I was looking at the description for the class III section (Mckenna to Yelm) of the Nisqually last night and it looks like it might be kinda fun, plus its got pretty good flow right now.  Anybody run this one recently?  Is it worthy?  Thanks, Eric

I am 100% sure that there is a person here that has run that section. His name is Dave and I am a little miffed that he has not written up a run description of that yet.

Dave get in here and help the man.... Eric becareful about Dave, hes a wild one he is.

Ah the mighty Nisqually, the most historical river in Washington, much American Native history on this one. Unfortunately most of the class IV-V+ gorge is under Alder lake and the rest is off limits. That leaves us a nice class II-III section around the Yelm area. I love this river it's a great workout and full of small playholes and waves at levels above 3 feet on the gage, but is runnable at all levels. It was the first river I kayaked and learned on 15 years ago. I plan on writing a detailed description, but need to get into the class III "Kahoona" gorge to get some pictures first.

Nice, it sounds like much fun to be had.  So Dave, do you hit it up pretty regularly?  Id like to check it out some time.

I'm booked solid for the next two weekends, but, the third weekend I'm free. So, I will post a trip for the Nisqually eventually and hope for a level around 3.2 feet (the magic level) and it will be worth anybody's while. See ya soon.

I'll definately get with you on an upcoming trip, I will be out of town sat/sun the 4th and 5th, but saturdays are generally my paddling day, and Ive got a few friends who will probably be interested in joining us, so whenever the next time you can make it out, list a trip or a topic and I'll give you a holler.  Thanks again.

hey-- I may as well express my interest in paddling this one too when you go.

Dave, did you say LaGrand is "off limits?" ---as in "illegal"? the only info I have on it is in Mr. Bennett's vague description of it and the "feasability studies" or whatever. What's up with LaGrand?

Jp

call me when you're going to run the Mckenna/Yelm stretch.-- (206) 755-2336

Hey dude, see the Sat. Nisqually trip. Also the LaGrand gorge is solid V and by permit only with planned releases, almost impossible to get on unless you get with the AWA and somehow get on a planned trip? It's way beyond my skill level so I just read the stories about it.
