I'm down for setting up and dealing with the ramp. I can also fill a spot for the creek race, timer or safety. Otherwise I plan on being drunk as usual. Let me know where I'm needed.

How is someone going to guide the Riot raft when its going to be dark and everyone is drunk. Are you talking about needing a designated driver for the raft that will stay sober? That may be a hard person to find...

Sorry it is too late you have already committed....

Well ok just this one time. But you should talk it up with all your friends so you can find some folk to help on the safety side. They can be your substitution.

yeah, guys- if you don't want to race or don't paddle that stretch or whatever- you should consider volunteering to help run the race: you'll get to see some good paddlers, and maybe some carnage, too.

Setting safety can be fun if you are in the right spot and get to throw your bag once or twice ;)

me? not sure how I'll be feeling day-of. Can't even say I'll be around for sure. Likely though.

The race and rodeo events should be planned to allow the whole event to shift from one to the other and not miss one while participating in the other, if possible. So that those who do set safety for the race can participate in the rodeo for example.

JP,

No doubt were going to be making sure that all the Rodeo boaters that want to creek race do, basically the events are timed with plenty of spacing but we will also be waiting to make sure everyone that wants to race can. I am most excited about the R2 racing for this year. I don't know what all the teams will be but I think it will be a good time!

Ray,

That would be awesome. Here is what we have done in the past. Tow out on the Friday before This year would be May 20th. Setup on May 21st & 22nd. you would not need to stick around for that since you gotta work. We leave the trailer onsite. Then May 30th (memorial day) we tear down and return the scaffolding and trailer. Last year I think you stepped in and did that (which was really really appreciated) so the plans would be the same.

I have a bunch of pallets to toss in, with more on the way. I don't have a truck to get them to Wenatchee, tho. Can bring them to someone local. Lemme know.

We busted up a party on Mt Josephine a few weeks ago and the kids took off and left all their pallets for the fire. There is enough of them that you would need a truck with a full size bed and a bunch of rope to get them (which eliminates me). They are abandoned property on DNR land and free for the taking if anyone has the motivation to grab them.

If anyone wants to go after them let me know and I'll either figure out a time to show you where they are, or make you a map.

HELP
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So clearly our biggest needs are a Judge or Judges for the Rodeo, 2 Timers for the Creek Race, and people for safety in the Creek Race.

Is there a rodeo judge? I say we just pick 3 people from the crowd to judge. Score 1-10 for best ride and use scoring for any time breaker (probably not needed). Making it more of a "show" rather than technical point- rating system. I'm willing to organize, but I'm just going to pick 3 random peeps from the crowd. Thoughts???

Brett, I can always pick 3 judges out... gees, I am looking for someone to actually do the judging.

Date Posted: 25 May 2011 at 12:44pm
I'll judge, but I'm def competing. If ALL the other competitors don't have a problem with it, let's do it.

Nope, competitors can't judge, Judges can't compete - Timers Can't Race, but racers must be timed.

Not everyone will win, but all winners get a prize and everyone should act surprised by who wins unless the winner leaves before he gets a prize, in which case the winners prize will be given to the 2nd to last place. This rule has gone into effect to cover for a specific occurance at other races and places. DFL's will require 10 second keg stands.

Then let's go with the "coolest ride" vs "most technically proficient scoring ability". Easy. Hans, please be a judge!!

Brett, I'm with ya my man. I'd vote for a 'coolest ride' or 'best trick' throwdown.
Rapid Magazine just had a scoring format that fits the 'coolest ride' format.

I've made a spreadsheet and will bring copies if you decide to go that way.
They are forecasting 10-12k for saturday so it could be a seriously fun event!

Hans - Your on, I will give you the mission Briefing Friday or Sat before the Rodeo. I think by the looks of things it will be at Rodeo Hole, but Trinity Could be a possibility.

That leaves us needing
2 Timers for the Creek Race, and people for safety in the Creek Race.

I'll help on the creek race wherever I fit best. I can help judge the rodeo as well but I'm definitely competing in the ramp this year.
