Me: (guy named Bill) Once upon a time solid 4-5 paddler who hung up his boat something like 20 years ago. Got out occasionally ( once every couple of years) and just enough to be reminded of his funky rotator cuff. In some fit of panicked aging desperation I decided to do all those PT exercises the Doc showed him years ago. Amazingly they worked!... It's almost like they new what they were talking about!? So, with a newly working shoulder he started paddling a Surfski ... Just cuz.

Fast forward a couple of years and a reunion with my old paddling crew ended with an early season Middle Fork permit and a new WW kayak.

So, here I am 20 years later with a boat and don't have a single paddling buddy let alone crew ( old crew now split between Alaska and Eugene). I neeeed to get on the river!

While I have many boating cobwebs to clear out, I should be perfectly happy in 3-4 from the get go. I had something like 500+ paddling days all over the wast coast, BC, Yukon and Alaska before hanging it up. I was rolling my boat in Lake Union today and it's nice to see my hand roll still works after all these years. Off side needs some work though.

Anyways.. If anyone is going out on some class 3-4 and doesn't mind some company, I would love to tag along. I need to start meeting folks and making connections... So toss this old dog a bone.

I can paddle just about any day of the week so you people out there looking for a week day paddler.... That would be me.

I also have a packraft and love to sea kayak and paddle a surfski...

So, what say ye?

Bill...
On lake Union..

I'll be doing midweek runs about once a week in the evening on the SF Stilly middle run (class III to III+) until the water runs out. You're welcome to join. We generally meet around 5:30. I can give you a heads up when a run is gonna happen.

Sweet!.. I'm looking forward to it. Is that the Mallardy to Verlot run? Im not that familure with the various runs around as I haven't paddled that much in Washington. I was mostly based out of Eugene. Only the Sky (bolder drop section), middle middle, green gorge, lower 4 on icicle creek, Wenatchee and all sections of the white salmon... Oh and the wind. Maybe a few more... It's been a while.

Keep me posted! ..:-)

I can boat on the sky midweek during the day. I can probably meet for after work runs too, but I'd rather go earlier during the warmest part of the day.

I think the Sky is the best river in the state to tune up the chops on. Boulder Drop especially, of course portaging or putting in below it are always options too. Nice deep clean channels (flows above 2,000), which are more forgiving to roll in if you flip than a lot of the boney rock gardens in many of Washington's other streams. The larger sized boulders make for quality features to interact with, with bigger eddies and pools of slower water inbetween...

Skykomish never really gets old, for me. It is an amazing river.

Hit me up if you want to run it this week.
