How in the world do you get carbon fiber slivers out of your fingers? I have a Werner carbon paddle and it seems to shed slivers occasionally and I cant get them out of my fingers!

1. heat fingers in furnace until carbon turns to graphite.

2. draw pretty pictures with fingers unitl you run out of lead.

The key is to stop getting them. They work out after time. I think they eventually grow out. It might be good for you! A little wax might help on the paddle. There was recently a discussion about this on the Idaho white water yahoo group. These people were getting them from carbon fiberglass oars....
As a kid working in my Dad's cabinet shop i used to constantly have splinters...white oak was the worse!!

Just rub your hands on the paddle some more.  then you won't notice the first.   Maybe getting a new paddle...  or in reality, a little wax.

truthfully, you dig em out with a pin and razor blade if they are that uncomfortable.  If its fress I have heard some people can get small stuff out with drawing salve...  but I just dig at it.  or leave it in to come out.  I once had a bunch of cactus in me for about 6 months.  man it was nice when they finally came out.

Waking up with cold sweats thinking about that scary shard of a paddle blade you use laying cold and silent in the garage?  Smoking more pot these days just to take the edge off?  Scared your back-deck roll might remove part of your face because of that paddle blade?   Have you developed night terrors and are now in counseling due to that barbed hook you use to get yourself down river?  Buy a foam core paddle and end the nasty sliver nightmare.

I heard soaking your hands in palm-olive works wonder's for your hands and nails. You can also get that pile of dishes out of your sink at the same time !

I fail to see the humor in all this and I think Hugo is a moron.

On a lighter note, you will all be happy to know that all my slivers have worked their way out and I have now coated my shaft with some great wax that Tobin gave me. Tobin reaaly knows what works on a guys shaft!

A vernier caliper is the best set of tweezers in the world, I learned this from a machinist.  They are so super sharp at the tip they grab better than anything else.

You can measure small stuff very accurately with them too!

They are about $6 at harbor freight.  I use them and a needle to dig out real small slivers of metal, carbon fiber, fiberglass, wood and anything else I wind up jabbing into myself.

the humor is on what he was doing with his carbon fiber paddle in the bedroom?  sorry I thought it funny... guess I am just a little twisted.  I usually don't go for the sophomoric jokes but this one was good.
