The wood in drop #2 (or #3 depending on who you ask) of the "Fearsome Foursome"; A.K.A. The "Typewritter Wave"  is gone now, thanks to myself and two others who themselves provided some keen intellect and the proper tools. (Thanks, James and JD).

BUT! Be advised-- Hazards abound, and the run still has minor issues...

- "Larry's Limbo Ledge": we wanted to get the first crack at it, but decided it wasn't worth it. Lots of people will be bummed with this drop, I suspect.  It's ugly and consequential. In the words of one paddling companion: "Someone will run it first and grease it. After that someone may try it and get hurt very baddly" or somethin to that effect.

-There's a log right below it spanning the creek at the second 'lil rapid before you reach the "F.F." Motivated individuals however could intelligently remove it (BUT DO NOT send it downstream- remove it. it'll just plug up somethin else)

-The snow on the road is melted, but now more than ever be carefull hiking into the run over the snow. Our beloved Professor sank into a hole beneath the snow and jacked up his hip. use caution while the snow lingers.

-"Island Drop" has a Limbo manuever right above the sweet boof you hit on R.Left. I think it enhances the drop and makes it more challenging, but squeamish creekers will have to look at as an opportunity to work on those "log duck'n" skills!

-As always, watch out for "Fisherman's", particularly at those fatter flows. Same 'ol munchy ledge we all know and love (?)

-If you're one of those boaters with a larger appetite, you may be pleased to know that "Rootball" is ENTIRELY clean now. Even the Log providing its namesake is gone.  I'll miss its aethsetic value, personally.

-Don't paddle over Franklin Falls! That might hurt!

There you go, you spoiled Beta Brats! Don't say I never gave you nothin!

Oh-and one last thing--

FITWah PROPER is good to go!!
Load the coolers and mobilize the carpools! It's gonna be time for some afterwork FITWah runs soon (this week may have pretty high flows, though!)

Stop posting to yourself JP, holy moly.

Limbo did look doable, but if you tried to boof on the right there is too many things that can go wrong (especially with my poor boofing skills)

The Ledge below it is runnable, you just gota boof off the log a bit and hope for the best...

Just my 2 cents after scouting it again this weekend.

Hey man, I just love to paddle. I can't help it if my enthusiasm doesn't end when the weekend does. What's YOUR issue?

Man, Paul and KTW perhaps were right. There's just no way to win around here.

no worries, JP>... no comp with posting power,  you just keep doing what you be doing- which ain't ripping on others and sharing the hype, passion and love for paddling.  Rock on with it!

Thanks, Mike.

I'd love to have a local online forum that was full of info about paddling. Full of people expressing their passiion for it. After the last FITW "Beta" post, I felt like people wanted to know what was happening up there.

All I know is that one paddler had enough passion about the sport to pour tons of sweat into providing us with the raw structure of this site. I don't want to dishonor it by using it as a dumpsite.

That's all.

Thanks for the beta JP, wish it was a little cleaner but still looking forward to getting up there for sum laps.

Don't listen to Dave, he's the king of laying down three posts on top of each other and responding to his original posts.

I'm loving the posts JP. It's too bad that Dave always opens up with the verbal crap. That's what happens when your to busy posting and not paddlin.

Thanks for the fun on ole FITW and I will be back out soon, enjoying the hard work and the hard workers!!!!

As for dave... I know you well enough to see your not meaning to be a dumbass, but at the same time you are. You have certainly proved the value of your posts.

Jees, dump on Dave day... You guys didn't tell me you actually ran it on Monday and didn't call me...I waited by the phone all day too!

I thought you guys just scouted it on your way back from Wenanchee.

Oh, and by the way I Kayak about 5 days a week right now, which is about double what you do James. Remember, I am always asking you to go and you have about every excuse not to.

I know, totally subjective, but any thoughts on a reasonable first time FITW level?  Looks like it is coming in, based on the little I've heard.

Right now at this level. I may be going up on Thursday for a first run. I probably wouldn't be the best person to go with though since all I do is float like a dead log and hope for the best...

Probes can be useful river aids, though I prefer following those with better than even odds.

Level as of 6:30 this morning is mediumish.  Cup out of the water with the occasional splash into it.  Dawn light on this run is really special.  Have to love the silver glint of mist rising off the water as you paddle into the Fearsome Foursome.

How about Thursday night? If the level's right there's a group 2 or 3 of us that'll kick in a six-pack and dinner in exchange for a 1 run guided tour....

I'd be up for a run this weekend sometime but it would be my first time down so I'd like someone who knows it along too.

So can we get a weekend trip together?

I'm glad to hear that. There was no reason for that drop to be left unrun.... its practically the same as it was before.
