It is in, but not for long.  Who wants to go this weekend?  Possible side-trips include ELF run on Cle Elum or trip up to little wenatchee/icicle.

The Cooper is good down in the 500-600 range, so it will be there until late July. At least I hope so, cus I wont be able to get out there until then.

Hi Leif,

I'll go this weekend.

and admit it --- you are behind SBaL and are just using him to allow us to take part in the fights within in your own split personality.

I *really* want to hit the Cooper this year, but I'd like to catch it at a "good first time level" whatever that may be.

Presumably it'll be on the higher side this weekend and then taper down from there? Any guesses as to how long the "Cooper Window" will stay open this year?

Having said that - Sunday may be open for me if the levels look right.

I like easier levels and they are around 500-800cfs.

what's the Cooper running right now?

1065 inflow. Keep in mind, that it is not the flow of the river, but rather the combine flow of the cle elum and the cooper into the resevoir. It is accurate none the less.

it seems James information was more up-to-date :-).
However, it seems to drop slowly from the 1050cfs level she was at 10am on Friday.
the report says: -1cfs/h (10am on Friday).

I really don't know why people can't understand that lower does not necessarily equal easier.  I have never run Cooper. This weekend looks like a good first time flow to me. I'll be there.

Cooper was low this past weekend.  It was boat abuse and butt bounces, with some piton carnage.  You folks waiting for lower levels...  time is now!

Really?  Mike, what lines were you taking yesterday?  The only spot that was really taking plastic off was the manky ledge just above Voodoo for our crew yesterday.  Everything else was still going well without incident.  I'll admit it wasn't high, but I wouldn't call it quite low yet and out of contention for fun.  More medium low.

Definitely low, but definitely GOOD! Get it while you can.

low is low, call it good side of low but still low... simple mathematics:
banging rocks in the mank +  riding rock on slides = low
LOL
for what its worth, BD is low below 4k :)

I agree. It was my first time on the Cooper, and I thought it could of used a little bit more water. Sometimes a little padding is a good thing. Hopefully this nice weather will bump the flow up a bit for a midweek after work trip.

Just reviewing the flow info on the AW Cooper page ... and seems like a change is in order.  I recall that this has come up in the past, that is the discrepancy between what people like and what the 'AW page' recommends.   Seems like flows below 1k are gettin low, and flows above 1600 are gettin into the med-high range.  Any thoughts?

I've run it up to about 1600, and I would think it has a fair bit of headroom above that, but I have run it down to 500 (last year).  It is bony, but she goes.

Folks are also forgetting a pretty important piece here. Think Icicle.

This year the meltoff occurred very differently than years prior. Icicle was pumping in mid season providing much more than the standard correlation from peshastin. In other words many folks have enjoyed Lower Icicle runs on the weekend of the PP ball with peshastin going at 12-14k ... shoot for a while it was getting playboated constantly. This year it was way way way higher than previous years because that drainage was going off off off. This year with peshastin at 12k it was looking more like other years at 16-17k

Cooper is the same way with the Cle Elum and the inflow into the resevoir... As far as standard inflows sure on a normal year
350-550 = elf
550-800 = low
800-1200 = low medium
1200-1600 = medium
1600-1800 = high
1800-2000 = stompin

This year we went down for the first time in the 1700 range and it was more on par to other years in the 1500 range. Like Megan said it's still a blast!! But you can't just draw a number from the Inflow and know exactly what the cooper is going to be at, it's just a ball park indicator.
