a very similar topic to the Robe Watch thread, this thread is devoted to any witch craft or similar voodoo which may (hopefully) effect flows in a favorable manner, such as the most common method:

Raindances.

Of course, snow dances are also acceptable, perhaps even more desirable to help out those high elevation caches.

Anyway, B.S. aside, If forecasts hold true I may hit up Robe Tuesday or Wed. give me a shout the night before or early in the am morning of to coordinate.

And dance a little jig for the Gnomes!

I think some sort of sacrifice may be in order.

I have never met the guy, but from what I have read and heard the Gnomes would probably send him to the trail and then kick ah bunch o' sh*t in the river as punishment to the regulars for letting him near the gates of goodness.

Nicely said.
I guess I'd add this:

Careful talk of this "Sacrifice" stuff. I think a few gnomes have some sort of Robelistic g4 network that allows them to listen in on our online discussions. We may not want to let that jeannie out of the bottle. Witchcraft is powerful stuff not to be trifeled with.

I'm just gonna stick to some raindances and some jolly good songs of praise for the gnomes, in the hopes that they will continue to show a little mercy and mirthful mischief, rather than the truly ugly kind they could dispense.

Electing anyone for "sacrifce" just might single yourself out inadvertantly.
Work on that Eskimo Roll, dude!

Now-- who might want to run Robe tues or Wed, should levels bump up?

and yes, Gordon-- if you come up to run robe with me sometime, I promise to make you a tastey Turkey Robewich for you to enjoy after the run, provided I know you are gonna be there and have enough advanced notice beforehand with which to prepare this Robewich.

I was thinking something more like a material sacrifice, but I'll defer judgment to someone with experience with these gnomes.

Yeah, that sounds like that could work- I'd just hate to boof into some eddy and see a Robe Gnome dashing behind a rock with a jP voodoo doll in his hands!

Very friendly, Chip.  Does this mean you are going to step it up and run Robe?  I just love clicking on a random thread, and seeing my name mentioned in a negative way.  I also find it interesting James is again approving accounts with a clearly fake name.

Yeah Chipper, Leif's right here on this one.

We don't need to encourage any more Leif-bashing than there already is (way too much). Instead you should be working on your roll, 'cuz yours ain't exactly all that and a bag 'o "Chip's"

I'm gonna act as a moderator just for an instant and say This thread is devoted to Robe, and KAYAKING. If you want to sling the POO, you don't have to look very hard to find a suitable thread. But this ain't it. Scram.

On a sadder note, it's looking like the graph is deflating
Chip,  You annoyed the Gnomes!!

If the rain dance doesn't work, I say as punishment Chip should have to give Leif a lapdance.

Dude this thread ain't about those guys. It's about Robe. Or at least Kayaking. We do need moderaters. There are plenty of other threads for you guys to carry out your "Battle Of the Driftwood". This isn't it.

So... Back to Robe. And/or kayaking. I ain't that picky ...
I was out there today and had a little "Robe First". Specificlly at Garbage:

So I paddle into Garbage, basicly the same as always, only it's 4.98', which now a days I guess means there's a straighter line through. I end up squirrely on my stern with some  rudder action to keep my sh*t clean, and next thing I know I'm headed STRAIGHT FOR THAT GNARLY CHUNK OF WOOD> yeah, the one that's sticking up at about chest height with the splintery end-- I'm squirrel'n on the stern, and my bow contacts with the wood and it's all happening real fast and suddenly I'm supper stoked that my bow is way up there-- I basicly JIBBED it and deflected to the right, almost boofing off of it but I wouldn't get too high up on it because it's a few feet above the water- I kinda drop into the hole sideways and dig myself through...
Rob was mighty impressed and Ian said that if I'd pencilled through the hole above a bit more I'd hit it at chest level- I agreed. Scary! I put on my best Pee Wee Hermin impression "I meant to do that"
Anyway, No Innane Douchebaggery on the Robe Threads, kids!! (unless you've at least run it for cryin out loud.)

JP, relax dude.

actually I am quite relaxed. But it doesn't change the fact that this website's greatest weakness is all of this dumb Leif-Bashing and similar crap.

I'm serious enough to tell you that this thread is about Robe. If you are interested in the topic, fine.  There are plenty of other threads for you guys to carry on with your 8th grade humour.

As long as this site is gonna be kinda Wild West without moderators, I'm gonna deputize myself and call your driftwood ass out. If you have no interest in Robe, stay off this thread!

Tomorrow:
Looks like there is a pair at 10 and a crew at 2.

The graph shows a climb into the low 5's.
I gotta say that 4.98' really wasn't so bad as far as rocks. It's been awhile since I'd been on it so low. Certainly not a preferable flow, but having seen it again below 5', There are really just a few places where it's a little dicey or likely to potentially damage a boat, but not really.

Oh- (just in case there is anyone on this site who cares about paddling) at Last Sunshine I got my first ever DOUBLE BOOF (First ever double boof at L.S. that is).
And that can be credited tot he lower flow: There's a little mini-shelf above the kicker after you come around the corner and start decending towards it. It was a bit drier today and I thought I'd nee to be further left, but I hit that 'lil mini shelf, had a mini boof, and made contact with rock just before flying off the kicker all the more out of control. It was rather rambunctious!

I'll tell ya- It'd be AWESOME to see someone with freestyle skills throw a donkey flip or somethin off of that kicker!! Of course, I did get to see Mr. McKibbon run Last sunshine backwards (intentionally, from the eddy above)--boofed it, too!

Viba La Robe!

Hey I am interested, that's why I tuned in.. I was actually hoping to get out there on Saturday, even if as a piece of driftwood.

You seem on edge man, I didn't mean any offense.

And I definitely didn't do any Leif bashing, I was taking his side for christ's sake!

Anyway, sorry to ruin your monologue.

just an Idea here. maybe you guys with some time off mid week (jealous, yes..) could take a bow saw (or maybe battery powered saw-zall) with you tomorrow and cut that wood out of garbage, flow permitting of course. I already made some progress but the flows were to high @ 5.2-3 to cut it out due to water going over the log. I believe anything under 5.1 would work. I will try again this weekend if flows allow, but if the predictors right then it probably wont happen.

So you know, if you tie a rope around the river left side that big ass tree that spans the river overhead, you can quickly body rappel down to the log where there is good footing. i would suggest at least 2 people work on it cause 1 dude is going to get tired fast.

good luck and thanks ahead of time!

We'll see how it goes this week- not sure what time I'll have off yet, and the flows look too high as you said. If I can get out midweek I'll take one in with me.

We also need to line up some one to set safety there if we can't get it out before the event.
So-- anyone who runs Robe regularly but is not planning on racing may want to consider parking there with a throwbag, day of.
