This is the first time I've ever posted a trip for Robe on this site. usually I just post the details informally in the Robe Watch Thread.
Maybe I'll start posting more trips.
Whatever some of the better paddlers may say about this run, treat it as a class V trip. It's long and there are lots of rapids on it. The rapids are big, powerfull, and kinda gnarly. And the regulars that run it often rip through it pretty fast.
That said, someone recently described it as having 20 major rapids, half of those class V and half of them class IV. I think that's a fair assessment. There's also at least 10 more notable rapids that are either class IV or class III, depending on how you perceive the rating system.
Since not many class V trips get posted on this site using the trip planner, anyone new to Robe (or class V) should do their homework about it before ever joining one of these posted trips. Please call me if you plan on heading out today and let me know you're coming.
