Just cruising
This trip was set up for just a nice float down a relatively easy stretch of water. There were 6 of us with a wide range in skills, ages.
After running the first stretch to the first surfable wave we ran into a class from the Kayak Academy in Issaquah and another group of about 5, which could make for a slightly crowded river. We had a relatively uneventful float and I finally had the opportunity to ride the main flow down RR drop (In the past I've been the person to lead people down the sneak off the weir...and seen a few people get chewed up there). We ran the river to the takeout just below LD 1 and took out.
I was paddling a Big Dog Havoc and continue a bit of frustration at the short stern. I like it but has a wicked tendency to catch the stern. Need to be a bit more forward as I come into waves and holes to keep it out.
