2011 Post Ball Re-Cap

2011 Professor Paddle Ball Re-Cap
Our 6th Annual ProfessorPaddle Ball has come to a close and although it has been over a month since the event we wanted to re-cap on some of the great times and events that took place.

First a big thanks goes out to all of our sponsors! This year much like years before turned out enough donations to not only raise quite a few bucks but also ensure that almost every person that came out walked away with something! Without the help of these generous companies we would not be able to put on this event so be sure to support them!

Now onto the events!

Freestyle Rodeo

The rodeo this year was held at Grannies Wave on the Wenatchee river. We had a total of 15 competitors on the wave throwing tricks and rippin it up. The wave was no joke either, with water levels at a difficult stage the competitors selected what might be the most retentive and brutal spot for the show. Just before the Rodeo I recall a guy standing by the registration area say "What, you can't surf in grannies let alone throw any tricks! I have been kayaking for 18 years and that thing will tear you up at this level !!!" Well he was wrong.

Creek Race

The creek race was a smashing hit this year with over 20 people racing down Icicle Creek. This year we also had our first ever group of R2 racers take on this steep little run with style!

Operation Applets & Cotlets
This year just might have been the best turn out and event yet. With well over 20 paddlers we got organized well before the event, set shuttles and got prepared for the Night Time Mission. Glowsticks:Check, Teams:Check, Riot Raft:Check, Hooligans:Double Check. The fun lasted all the way back to camp with a late night Kareoke Fest that was not so well received by those slumbering nearby.

Big Air Ramp
Somehow the Big Air Ramp just keeps getting bigger and bigger every year. Nobody is complaining, I am just saying. This year it was the biggest yet and the booter at the end created a launch that provided for bigger moves and longer air time! We had a great time practicing on the Ramp before the actual competition. Some wild kids were launching water ballons off the top at downriver rafts, (totally unauthorized) but without proper law enforcement we were unable to subdue the ruffians. The ramp turned quite a few heads as commercial companies came down the river and were greeted by flying kayaks and huge splashes. Our sponsors had a great seat for the action too, with banners flying high above the river with exposure to hundreds of people passing by!

The over all vibe of the weekend was relaxing and fun. The camping was perfect and the Beer was cold and refreshing! We will wrap up this review with a little video produced for the event.

Until Next year!
