  Access

A new 'foot' gauge on the SF Sky @ Skykomish. Please post recent tirp beta here until we get levels dialed in a bit.

This run never canyons up. Scouting and portaging are always an option as well as hiking out at any point.

  Putin Details

Upper: To reach the put in continue up Miller River Rd to the Dorothy Lake trailhead and hike a mile to the bridge.

Middle: Hike down to the river from the trailhead.

  Takeout Details

To reach the take out follow hwy 2 east from Index to Money Creek Campground, just a few miles before the town of Skykomish. Turn right, then right again on Miller River Rd, about a mile up. Follow this out, nearly to the end of the road which is the trailhead for Dorthy Lake. Look for three white road markers just down from a pull out. This marks the take out. You can see a 20 foot ledge from the road just above here. This is the last drop before Smoothie, a 70 foot slide. Take out above unless you know the line.

  Other Issues

This whole run is an issue if you are not up for it. There are zero pools on this run. It is totally continuous with some big drops and slides thrown in. And the wood... Shallow spots are probably the main hazard.

  Fun Facts

Looking for an epic? Only have to hike a mile.

Run Description [Season: spring, summer, fall]

The East Fork of the Miller has three distinct sections. The Upper starts after hiking a mile up to a bridge and putting in. You can see some of the gnar you're going to run on the hike up. Finally, just before reaching the bridge you see a 30-40 foot slide. Lots and lots and lots of drops on this run.

The second section starts about where the trailhead is with a slightly less steep and cleaner appearance. No description can really do it justice, other than to say it's a full day for just 2 miles of whitewater. Scout everything. Steep steep boulder gardens, wood, mank, big slides, boofing, and portages... this run has it.

Catching the eddy above the 70 foot slide is advised.

The third section, Lower EF is extremely extremely steep with massive drops and gnar. The put in for this section is the takeout for the upper 2 sections.
