ya, I talked to Andrew about those bad boys. They seem pretty sweet. Stoked you picked up that distribution.

Don't buy that brand, as in they all break like that, or just that particular one?  I have owned many brands o' paddles over the years and had breakage on lots, EVEN Werners!!!  I wouldn't boycott a company unless its an ongoing problem, but wierd... AT's explode left and right, but people still buy them in droves....

And no, I have no representation with Accent Paddles!

Why not buy local?  It is not like Werner makes a poor quality product, so why fix whats not broken?

No, I'm not normally a hater. I understand that stuff will break, I've even broken one of my beloved Werners. I just have a lot of faith in their brand and their business ethics. I did not like the response to my issue with the paddle when I contacted the company that sold me the paddle and then the company that manufactures the paddle. That is all. I know gear is gonna break, I'm rough with it.

But there are norms for customer service that I require when I spend a good amount of money on a product, especially one with a warranty. I am just giving my opinion to the local community. Buy what you want, but I doubt I will be staying from Werner again any time soon.

What I'm sure Dan meant to say was "I doubt I will be stRaying from Werner again any time soon".

funny how confusing someone's message can be in this rapid-paced era of not proofreading before posting/publishing.

Happy enough with my Werner- just wish it was colorfull so I could see it when it's afloat on its own. Black is a hard color to see. And I wish they could do some minor maintainance for you rather than say "just buy another".

I'd spend $100 every year and a half to have them put a fresh clear coat on it and maybe toche up some dings. That's what a good wood paddle maker will do for ya. I have to say though that synthetics endure an incredible amount of abuse: most of which occurs while portaging and getting in and out of the boat/river.

Happy with my Werner, the first synthetic paddle I've ever had. But as soon as I can afford to I'm gonna have Kenny build me one of his wood sticks for the less demandinf runs. They are fine decendents of The Craft.

ya Werner paddles rock... but that goes without me having to say it.  I'd replace my Werner blades with new ones every time.  To be sure all paddles can and will break, but in my ten years experience Werner has proven to be a simple solid paddle that I regularly take for granted because it is so durable.

The foam cores are the cat's meow, but buy one and lose it on a creek can leave a painful memory.... unless you are a trust fund kid, and Werner kicks it down to you because you rock the falls :)  For my part the best creeking paddles are fiberglass 'cheepies', although the carbon fiber may last somewhat longer, just depends I guess at how well you can hold on to that shaft while recirculating in the frothy froth.  Or maybe you never get to see the bubbles from down under because that boof stroke on the Werner is killin it.

Anyways, Dan I hope Ascent will work with you on getting your paddle warrantied proper-like.  They should at least make an attempt to stand by their product.  AT did do a pretty good  job of that (customer service).

Oh, and as previously noted- Werner is local.
And for the record, I ain't no Werner rep neither....  just a happy satisfied paddle owner :)
