Um, just a suggestion, you might want to start another thread before a mob carrying flaming torches shows up at your door D4. :)  Also can't boat today, have fun.

We are going to meet at the takeout at 1pm. I hesitate to say Paradise because I dont belong to WKC and I dont want to offend anyone...we will have to play the takeout parking by ear... I would hate to offend anyone by parking in the wrong area...

Bill said it was still open to paddlers as before and the code is the same, so I think nothing has changed.

The river should be coming up... The inflow and res level are going up, so the outflow should follow.

Yeah. I would have had a million times a better day if I had gone to the UGG. But no, I had a craptastic day at work instead.

This is a good level, but starting to get pushy for a first time run unless you are real comfortable in your craft in class IV.

I got the one of the worst beat downs of my life today, in a big hole in the triple boof section below Ledge Drop II. Couldnt get a hold of the grab loop on my spray skirt with NRS mittens on and almost flushed drowned. I need to fix that...

I agree the thumbs down was a sucker punch on Dave, probably because of the new feature that shows thumbs up/down.  When did I get the ones I have???

Glad you managed to pull Dave, sounds like a bad situation!  We're all just between swims!  A couple of the scariest places I've been were in rapids I thought I understood...

tee hee hee.. I didn't thumb down anyone, but I gave myself a thumbs up to see how it works.. :) Self promotion rules! (I'm sure that earned me a thumbs down.)
Dave, thanks for the input. I've had the same problem with gloves compounded with having a foot stuck after in the foot braces. Not fun. However, it did earn me a "wow, way to stick with trying to roll." from onlookers.
I'm trying to boat my burn more now. It still feels clumsy compared to my littler boats. I want to get into class IV stuff... and to do so I think I'll like the volume of the burn.

Thad - My opinion is that a good first time flow is around 1800.  The gorge isn't too pushy yet, but a lot of the rocks are well covered.  2k is still a good level, the holes just get a little bigger.  still plenty of recovery time after most of the rapids.

under 1800, the run gets more technical with lots of rocks coming into play.  I tend to like more water and less scraping.

go with a group who will show you the lines.

Yep, I'm not too fond of scraping and It's nice to not drag along as your trying to roll. Thanks Melger.    Will definitely find someone well versed and willing to show lines when I go.
