I posted most of the pics and vids Ambre took this weekend.  There is alot of it.
I couldnt tell who every one was, so your name may not be attached to it. If you find yourself leave me a comment and I will update it.

The highlight of the trip was watching Adam hit the rock at the top of Husom (even after I told him he wouldn't ) and run the boof flake backwards. He totally styled it. Of course it was the one run through without a camera on the bridge
 Great trip!!  Thanks All!!

Ditto on that.

Tobin, they said they saw my run.

It was awesome. I was sooooo hooked that I ran up and did it again. I'm hooked for life.

Pictures will be up on my Picasa album in a few minutes. I'll post the link when they are. I stole all of them off of Texas Dave's camera, btw.

If you're having the same problem I am, the player pops up after you right click and download the file. All I get is sound and no video. If you look on the right bar with the name of the file there is a red X next to it, click on it and select error details. Next, click on web help and follow the links to get the updated codec file. Its a free download.  - Adam

Best part about it was after I hit and spun, I stalled half way down the falls pointed upstream and skywards and had a second to think about what just happened before I slid on in. It was pretty cool...  - Adam

Hey Ashley,

I saw it, but didn't have my camera with me.  I'm glad you got some pics of it from Texas Dave's camera though.  It was totally sweet!!  How was the second run?

Dave,

In Ashley's photo # 87, you are throwing some marvel of an aerial maneuver. Have you named it yet?

Posted By: ashleygoesdisco

Giiiiiirl power!!

The second run was awesome. I hit the green tongue right between the flake rock and the rooster tail and sailed right through, upright!!

I am slightly jealous of your pink boat..... When are we going to boat together??

Hey Ashley,

Adam and I are going to the Sky today, so maybe we can boat together then?  I'm going to be doing the lower section  But soon I'll work my way up to the upper section.  Way to go on the second run - wish I could have seen it!  We ran it in the raft - obviously not the same, but still cool.

This is true for friendly levels.  At low flows it is REALLY sticky.  I received a royal beat down trying to boof the left of center line, penciled in and spent a while getting beat down only to resurface, roll, and get pulled in backwards for a much longer time.

After pulling my skirt I was recirculated several times before resurfacing.  My boat stayed in for another minute or two and after a closer look both the bow and stern pillars where pulled out (but still in the boat) and the line of my throw bag got yanked out of the bag.

I had lost respect for Husum after countless laps and finally got the beatdown I deserved.  I did run the "normal" line the next day to even the score.

At higher flows it seems to flush but packs a big punch when you hit the bottom of the falls.

SWEET FOOTAGE!!!!  Thanks for getting it posted (to all who took pix, etc..)  What a great weekend!  The only bad parts were the traffic on the way back up I-5, and slicing open my toe on saturday (it seems to be healing up well though).  I think next time I'll stick to my backwards way down there through Yakima.  A little longer, but no traffic.

Hey Leif, how was your exploratory mission on the backroads?

So who had the best line of the weekend? My vote goes to Estel. Flipping in the top of Maytag and running most of the rapid upside down is one thing, but nailing your roll just above the botton whole was very cool to watch. Way to hang in there!

Ashley - I've uploaded all the ones I have.

Alison took videos of everyone on the river including lots of people not in our group and filled up the camera. Seems we all look the same in our kayaking gear.

I deleted a bunch of what I thought were other people but looks like I deleted a bunch of our videos too.

Sorry about that

Tobin is right, it does get sticky at some flows.  According to J. Blum it is sticky at high and very low levels.  I can verify this as Ryan and I took a good beating last fall at 500cfs.  I didn't punch the meat, got pulled back under the curtain, banged around on some rocks, and swam out.  Ryan swam too and even got recirculated a few times before flushing.  Just hit the boof lake and its all good.

I have never swam outta it ( yet )  but have taken a few beat downs when the stick is reading above 3'. Its really hard to get to the right side of the tongue at higher water, adn it tends to stuff you in the right side below the drop.  I spent 2-3 minutes there trying hard to stay upright, and get the hell out.
At lower flows the volume of water doesnt have the down river current to pull your boat downstream, you gotta hit the flake at low water, if you run the tongue you will be coming back in!
I dont know if its harder or easier at high water compared to low?  Jonathan would know alot better! But I do know its very differnt, ( kinda like Boulder ) it has a very level dependant charecter, that I pay close attention to!
The good news is that as the level goes down, its easier to get to the flake. Just dont miss it!
  Peace and Happy boatin
