Anyone want to take some first timers down the Green (upper gorge) tomorrow? Everything else seems huge, would this one be fun at 800?

i saw your other post about wanting to do some III - IV and want to let you know that I'd be down to hit the MM tomorrow. Rather to do something with some water than bumping and scraping. Let me know what you think.
Only caveat is I'd prefer to meet at noon, I wanna pick up a Burn demo and CPS doesn't open till 11.

MM is going wrong direction for my taste/akill. I'd prob only be up for it at under 3k and I doubt its going that direction by tomorrow. Let me know if you change your mind about green. Noon is fine w me

Upper Green is pretty low at this flow, though it has been run much lower. I'm interested, though (and know the run well, but wood is unknown so we'd be tiptoeing in spots). I'm hoping they'll bump it up a bit, weather like this sometimes provokes it. If it goes 1250-1400, it's all about P'n'p Paradise.

well im gonna go ahead and create a who wants to do the MM thread. but if I dont get any takers I'd be down. I'd like to get on something. They'll probably release a little more water if it keeps raining like this. Wanna give me your number and we can be in touch in morning?

Chris, I hate you. My season is winding down and it'll be snowing soon in MN, and the Green is just about ready to start running. It's depressing. Ok, so I don't hate you but I DO hate the lack of boating staring me in the face.

We miss you out here, too. Heard you left a boat out here for visits, yes? We opened the season today on the Lower, some new wood and it's potentially in play if one takes certain lines. Could be bad, but probably ok. Maybe I'll add an alert.....
Cave Wave really is just that much fun!
Ummmm, oh, yeah, to the guys thinking of tomorrow, I'm most likely in, but my attention is swayed while it's still warm if Paradise comes in.

Cool, I'll be open for whatever happens on the green, be it gorge run or PnP if it comes up (maybe followed by a run of the lower section). What time works? Noon is earliest I cab get there and later works too.

Noon works for me, but if it flows, I'd rather do an Upper/play combo than a play/Lower combo. Let's see how flows pan out, by the time you'll be headed out, the dam operators will likely have done what they're gonna do after the rain tonight.
Cheers!

Yeah, had one stashed there but I had to come out last December for some school stuff and brought it back. Don't worry though it's been put to good use. There's kick ass whitewater here in the spring, but then we've got one class IV option for the rest of the summer.

I was thinking around 2, but possibly could make 1. I have some commitments in the morning.

I'm not that motivated for it at this level. Been there, done that, and it's nice enough on a sunny day, but I'm just not inspired right now. Thought they were gonna give us more water. Maybe in a few hours, I've got all day. How bad do you want to get in there?

Just trying to get out. And trying to find something that would take some skill, but not dish out a beat down. I'll PM you my digits, so let me know if you feel like hitting it later today or some other time. Always good to go with someone who knows the run as I am new to boating in PNW.

Yeah, Green is wayyy too low. It can actually serve more beat downs at these Elf flows- a lot more pin potential, too.
The Middle Middle, on ghe other hand, should fit the bill nicely today. I think I am heading out there later. It has good water- still over 4,000 cfs. Not off the hook, just good clean Deepwater class III+.

What time are you thinking JP? It's raining here now so I think everything is primed for another bump. Limp wrist looked a bit low for my taste this morning but that should come up too. Are they diverting water out of the south fork? I need to get dialed in on these gauges

Not sure about diversion (S. Frk). I doubt it but I am fuzzy about the Snoq Zone these days.

Well, I was hoping for some more water in the Green, but just to test the waters (so to speak), anyone willing to do a Lower lap this afternoon? At this point we're looking at 12:30 or later.

Any of you who know the river want to hit upper green gorge tomorrow around 430? Two first timers heading down if flow stays at 1000. PM me digits and we can hit it up. Chris, any chance you could make it?

Are you firm on the 1000cfs?
FYI it doesn't change much in difficulty between 1000 to, say, 1400. But it'll clean up immensely once you got at least 1200 in there. Some of those rock gardens are a little gnarly at the lower end (1,000-1,200)
If it gets up to 1300 or 1400, I might be down for a run. I know it extremely well. Let me know- send me a PM if you want ti exchange numbers.

I just talked with the Howard Hanson Dam regulator today about flow. They will release 1800 cfs today around 12:30, increasing to around 2k by tonight.

Heha- its all just "slight of hand", Dale-- I'm learning the approximate lag time between the storms and when they realease out of Howie Hanson.
Speaking of this delayed reaction, it is about 2,200- perfect medium flows.
Anyone want to go paddle the Classic Version of the Green?
'Cuz I said it once and I'll say a hundered more times- that 1000-1500 range is just litterally good for "scraping by". Once you get about 2,000 in there, you're boating on The Real Green. As it would be running more often without the dam
So who wants to join me and Scott out there and get some quality water?

Well, I may be down if its mid 2,000's or so. Today's sort of my better window to boat.
C'mon PPeeps-
(Ain't even gonna try to twist Nutty P's arm)
Gotta be someone out there who is available for some green goodness.
I do have a bike though- probably just boot that up...

I wish I could. Might be able to Thursday afternoon... or more likely Sat or Sunday, depending on whether it's still running of course.

I'm trying for tomorrow, better chance (still slim) for Thursday, and resigned to the weekend warrior status. Oh well.
jP, I'm really jealous, it's a nice afternoon with good Green flows!

Going out Sunday as well. Upper gorge. I plan to be at Paradise between 11 and noon. Probably earlier than later to maximize sunshine in the gorge.
Level seems to be hovering around 1,570 which is a prime medium low. All the pour-over boofs have good coverage without too pushy of an approach, but healthy enough current to make some dynamic sh*t happen. I love these flows.
Weather should be nice.
Come on out!

Flow is still hangin' tough at 1,540 or so--
Great water level! Looking pretty sunny out here in Black Diamond, some wisps of cloud but it should be a fine day.
Gonna drop down into the Paradise area soon- so I will be out of cell range. I'll be down there way early just hanging out. It is looking like 11:30 or so when some people are showing.
Who knows? Grinch may already be down there enjoying his own little mossy slice of Paradise. He doesn't want to go home. Like in the David Lee Roth song. I bet David Lee Roth would have made an awesome raft guide.

!
All I have to say about this weekend in the Gorge is that:
!!!!!
Hard to describe.
It isn't class V+ remote nobody has been there in years even as a hiker sort of stuff, but the sheer variety of the entire Gorge in such an accessible and beautiful place......
!!!!!!!
Words don't work well enough, just
!!!!!!!!!
