This Saturday we have another of our scheduled monthly local races.

Given the current flow outlook (ie cold and dry) the Skykomish looks like the best choice. This should be a good opportunity for people to come out that didn't due to the high water we had in October.

I'm thinking it would be fun to do an individual, timed race on Boulder Drop, then perhaps head to head in heats or something like that.
We'll need at least one timer to pull that off.
We could also do a longer race, perhaps only longboats unless demand for a shortboat race is great enough.

Thoughts? Ideas?

In.
I'm up for whatever race format people want to do. I will bring my Greenboat too for long boat race. If we do a boulder race and others would like a stab at it in a Greenboat feel free.

I'm in for whatever format you choose. It'd be good to get a longer race into the mix, as well. Water level looks like we might be putting in at Cable Drop (or Confluence, I suppose). Perhaps from Boulder Drop down to Split Rock and then turn-around and attain back up to Aquagasm. This would be the perfect level for an attainment race that begins at Split Rock. But we'd need long boats. If we started the attainment race at Split Rock, paddled upstream to Aquagasm and back down to Split Rock, we could race in heats and share boats. Plus, we'd only need one timer and a pre-race group huddle at the bottom of Aquagasm to point out the turnaround point. Could be a fun race.

I'll get spanked, but I think it'll be a good experience. I'm 99% in.

How about we meet at Boulder Drop at 11? I'll get there around 10 for practice laps.
We could do timed runs down BD with both long a short boats.
I can share my longboat with people who want to paddle it.
Then we could head downstream for additional races.
An attainment race in longboats sounds fun.

Consideration might need to be given to the amount of ice on the rocks around Boulder. Could be a slippery proposition lapping it. Then again, it might not be an issue.
Looking forward to this. Getting off work Sat morning - so anytime after 9am works for me.

A few us with longboats are going to meet at Splitrock at 930.
We will do some sort of race and then plan on being at Boulder Drop by 11 for timed races for both long and short boats.
If interest is great enough maybe we'll do another race after that.

Anyone know what we're looking at in this regard?
Thanks!
