I don't think I've logged on to PP in a year or so. Guess I needed some time off to play banjo (don't ask). 'course, I would have been around a lot more if I'd known Troll had been kicked off the board. Let's go paddling!

Good to meet you Brian. I promise I won't freak you out again with my log shenanigans. First and last time. But next time let's bring a chain saw and get rid of the dernd things... :)

Which log was the culprit?

the first one at a right-hand bend, avoidable if you hug the left side. pretty early in the upper run.

Was it an issue for others in your group? Was there enough time to get signals upstream?

Monk, it was a maneuverability issue. up3air was in a riverboard and couldn't move fast enough.
Hey, who edited my orignial post? Who is Troll? I have nothing against Troll.

Oh I could move fast enough. I saw the kayakers go that way, couldn't figure out what they were pointing at, been over enough logs - thought I could get over this one.

My mystake, did not mean to disparate up4air's skills ;)

It seems to me that there are probably a lot of lessons to glean from the incident, primarily concerning group river running/communication styles, especially between crafts, with different inherent maneuverability and visibility between them.

Yo James,
No trolling here! Just been doing other things. But let me point out, if Leeeeef were not banned we would already have been treated to a long post discussing the definition of "troll". Might have been entertaining....
Hey, where did all the water go?

you just need to design a riverboard that can carry a chainsaw, then you'd be set!

James, why can't I use naughty words? I like naughty words!

Otter I am not the go to man anymore ... I have relinquished the role I relished for repeating a rash array of rigorous offenses which have resulted in resentment and retaliations of plump and powerful proportions. I would suggest that you make more attempts at using words which start in R or P. Online there are a plethora or resources to produce such peculiar paragraphs pertaining to these parameters of pleasantries.
Just a thought

Sounds like the one that was there last year. After a long stretch of boogie water the right makes a 90 degree turn left and it sticks straight upstream at you?
Doubt this run will ever be totally clean, but still a good one. Last time, Otterboy showed us some fine rodeo creekin in one of the bigger holes.

It was def. fun but nothing like a log encounter early on to create excess anxiety. I'm very thankful there were zero consequences. Don't know if it was the same log, not very visible, river bent right with some obstruction in the middle.
And just for the record, there is more than one " L e i f " on this forum; automatically replacing a name, besides being a questionable action, might have unintended consequences.

Yeah, that was a hoot! I had a good long time to ponder my choices in hull design (I was in a Rocker).

James, I shall partake of your righteous pronouncement and redouble my efforts towards courtley reactions. I am but a fallen (swimming?) kayaker, seeking profundities paddling, and poontang. I do not wish to offend.
But just to see how the filters work:
sh*t
piss
fu*k
c**t
cocksucker
motherfu*ker
tits

Wow, the filters on my android work better than that. What's best, when I try and get the voice recognition on the phone to say "Leif", it comes up as "ass-clown". Come to think of it, that's also what was written on a certain truck the first time I saw it.
But I shall cease waxing nostalgic and begin complaining about the weather. Last weekend aside, doesn't look like soggy fall goodness is here quite yet. No real intereting rain event comming up, just some drizzle. Blast!
