In search of paddle partners that are willing to show me the area and do class III to start my season. I moved here in Sept. from MT and haven't paddled in this area much. Any takers?? Love,

I play to be paddling the middle middle on Sunday. This would be a Class III run at these low flows with one Class III+ rapid (House Rock) Interested? |

Hi, I'm looking to meet more paddlers and do some class III, practicing skills. Also new to the area.

Hi Emily. Welcome to the NorthWest. What's your schedule like(weekdays?)? What kind of paddling do you like to do? What boats do you paddle? Good luck deciphering the run (nick)names used here in the NorthWest(I'm from the MiddleEast, Kentucky) The Middle Middle refers to the Middle section of the Middle Fork Snoqualmie and is one of the more convenient runs to Seattle, when it runs. http://www.professorpaddle.com/rivers/riverdetails.asp?riverid=599 The Sky is the Skykomish, which may well be your most convenient river. It runs most of the time. http://www.professorpaddle.com/rivers/riverdetails.asp?riverid=586 The Green is a super sweet, dam release river to the south. When The Green is referred to here, they are usually speaking of the Upper Gorge, which is a class IVish run. The Headworks is upstream of the gorge and is a great II-IIIish run with nice surfing and you can tack on the first couple rapids of the Upper Gorge, which are more solid IIIish. The Lower Gorge is a class IIIish run which gets run more than any of the other sections. It is pretty good down as low as 400cfs and has magnificent scenery. Kirin, I/we may join you on the Middle Middle tomorrow. How low will you run it and what is your backup plan? |

Dale: I will run it as low as 800cfs Dont have a backup since I am not excited about paddling Boulder drop (way too rusty) unless it's low and walking it makes me want to puke. I guess I could tuck my tail between my legs and run the section below Boulder Drop.... By the way, another FANTASTIC Class III run is the SF Snoqualmie below Twin Falls Park. The canyons section (atleast at 900cfs+) is simple awesome. I ran it expecting a Class II section and was surprised by how continuous and fun it was. |

Dale: I could also be convinced to paddle the Green (if the middle middle drops lose to 800cfs which I doubt). I have run the green only once (about 2+ years ago) and dont remember the upper gorge at all, except that Mercury and Nozzle were harder than the rest of the river and it was very very pretty. What I remember is the hike out at paradise was a major pain that i swore i would not do again :-) I have not paddled the lower gorge at all. I could be convinced to paddle the entire run or the lower but not just the upper (aint hiking out) |

Dale, thanks for the great rundown of all the runs. My guidebook doesn't do you justice!
Currently I paddle a Liquid Logic Huck for river running and just bought a Jackson Star that is still in Idaho. I am comfortable on class III and have done some class IV but that is pushing my skill level for now.
Lynn, I totally want to do a women's float! That would be awesome! I am available Tuesdays after 3 or 4:30, Wed after 3, Thurs after 4:30, and Fri after 10am, and weekends.

I'm out for the day Kiran. Time, Japanese engineers and our state sponsored oil companies operating on a worldwide stage have conspired against me and are forcing me to remove my alternator from an impressively compact location.
Does anyone have an alternator for a '92 Civic LX in their pocket that they're not using? Emily, I'll try to drag you out with us next time. Good to almost meet you. |

Kiran - if the levels come up a bit this week, I'll definitely be looking to get a post-work run in. I'll post up if that comes together.
