I'll probably try to hit the Sky(Skykomish) in the next couple days.
What's your schedule like?

No clue...I haven't run the sky yet so I'll rely on Dale for important decisions like that.

My taste runs towards putting in at Cable Drop and taking out at Big Eddy... but I'll go with the flow.
I'll start the bidding at Thursday, 10:30am at Big Eddy.

Looks like Cable Drop to Big Eddy is about 7 miles?
The Cable Drop parking area is maybe half a mile off Highway 2 on Mount Index River Road. This is just upstream of the confluence of the South Fork and the North Fork of the Sky. We'll put in on the South Fork.
I'm not sure whether or not you need a Discover Pass at Cable Drop, but you do need one at Big Eddy.
I'll probably be driving a blue Civic.
I'm going to go ahead and post it as a trip.

You need a national forest pass for cable drop, and a discover pass or department of fish and wildlife pass for big eddy.

Good news. I bought my National Forest Pass.
Courtney, I also got a few rolls of duck tape and batteries for my electric cattle prod, so I can babysit, if need be.
It's not so much that I'm familiar with the run(only barely), but I can read water pretty well. I think we'll be OK.
So far, nobody has joined the trip. Makes me feel like the high school geek who tries to throw a big party, but nobody shows up.

Cool guys- looks like you've got some good plans going.
Fyi tho, Drexel:if you are planning on putting in at Cable Drop you are in for a solid class III run with a very solid, long class IV crux rapid called Boulder Drop. It can certainly be portaged. But if you want II/III, peeps usually put in at Split Rock or Railroad. That lower run to Big Eddy is considered a mix of II+ and some III-, depending on who you ask, water levels, ect.

So, yeah- just make sure you guys are on the same page. Sorry, not to be a dick- maybe I'm butting in where I shouldn't. Afterall, I am completely clueless as to both of your skill levels. So forgive me if I'm out of line here.
I'll just take this moment to remind everyone about a nifty aspect of this 'lil site: go to the "Rivers" page and click on "Skykomish Index to Split Rock" or whatever it says. Bam. It'll pull up a River Description page for the stretch you are describing, including info about Boulder Drop complete with pictures and probably some vid.
I'm sure you already know its there, but while it isn't perfect, The Rivers page with all the guages on it serves as a great doorway into Professor Paddle's database, sort of a wiki-guidebook if you will.
But if you don't have Jeff Bennett's "A Guide To The Whitewater Rivers Of Washington" (2nd edition) you should get it. Still quite relevant info, and actually a good read.
Again, most boaters know about this but I had a few minutes so I figured I'd throw it out there if you're new to the region.

thanks rio banditos, i do feel comfortable with a solid class 3 run, and prob boulder drop at this flow, but its good to know it can be portaged.

Yeah, its not a bad portage. Its also running at a pretty forgivable flow- really a good flow to get aquainted with the run and w/ BD itself. You'll dig it.
Boulder Drop is one of the best rapids in the state to run over and over again to get the class IV chops up. There are so many routes and a variety of flows throughout the year keep it fresh. Have fun and welcome to the Skykomish zone!
