Not Sure if this has already been mentioned, but they are starting to enforce the NW forest pass at the Cable drop put in parking. last weekend a bunch of us got warnings from the forest service and I imagine they will do that for a bit more, but eventually they will start passing out tickets. So if you don't have a pass the time is now.

Since they re did the access I imagine they are going to be stiklers from here out.

You guys are lucky. We saw the ticket master when we were parking there and were advised to move to the confluence or get a ticket if he returned and our cars were still there. It was cool of the guy to not ticket us immediately.
They need better signage for sure, none of us were aware of the change.

Technically it's always been within the fee area, there is a "entering fee area" sign as you come up the SF road but it's never been enforced. I think because of the recent access improvements they are starting to enforce that sign.

It was good while it lasted, guess it's time to get a NW forest pass now.

there may be an upside: patrolling the parking area may deter break-ins.

Word, we can only hope. My Pass was certainly cheaper than my insurance deductible.

You can hope but I wouldn't hold your breath.

When was the last time you walked up as someone was breaking into a car? Peaking in Windows maybe but mid theft, nah. Even stupid tweakers are smart enough to keep eyes out for inbound people, cops or not. Paying for passes rarely ever increases services, other than ticket writing services.

Now I can use my Forest Service Pass to park at the put in (Cable) and my Discover Pass to park at the take out (Big Eddy).  At least I don't need to get a permit to run the river!
