not boating today, just dreaming. who's run these? what are good ranges for upper falls and lower falls? anybody had problems with the bad parts of these drops?

If he hasn't run all that sh*t I'm sure he has beta. Hes about to bounce south for the winter though if he hadn't already.

Kevin, I know some peeps have gone in the cave on Lower Lewis. Scary. It took almost 2 minutes to get one guy out. When I ran it a couple years ago there was a bulkhead still bobbing around back in there. Also, the water, as it leaves the lip, is moving from left to right (as well as down). It's a long way down and Berger, Gordon and I, all got pretty close to that right wall. Haven't run Upper Lewis, but know of one person who came off too far right, over the handlebars, landing on rocks in between. Real bad, hospital bad. Upper is more technical with less room for errors. I think the left side of Upper Lewis has been run as well. We had about 500 on the gauge and it was HOT during summer. July?? Went back the following year, same flow on the gauge, 65 instead of 85 and found much less water. Temps matter when the run is way above or below the gauge. Have a look at the Upper when it's low to get a sense of the shallow spots in the landing.

Brett makes a good point about the wall that comes in on RR at the bottom. Although it is important to stay away from the cave, the wall on RR comes in at the bottom at an angle, and you definitely notice it if you launch the right side of the lip. I landed only 2 feet from the wall, that's too close for a 40' drop.

Yeah dudes-- I once saw Paul Gamauche stomp the sh*t out of Lower Lewis Falls, and then Cody Howard dropped it a little too far left (his stroke timing was off at the lip). Cody tangled w/ the alcove of rock seperating cave/eddy from downstream exit and it looked pretty ugly. But he maintained purchase against the rock wall divider and managed to get his torso past it and into the outflow. It was a tenacious battle for a few seconds though.
